The Bertschi Group, a market leader in intermodal chemical logistics, has commenced operations at the newly completed Antwerp Zomerweg Terminal (AZT). Strategically located in the largest integrated chemical cluster in Europe, the terminal focuses on the storage of hazardous goods (DG) and non-hazardous goods in tank containers, as well as trimodal services by rail, inland waterway, and truck.<\/strong><\/h5>\n

(D\u00fcrren\u00e4sch\/Antwerp) Located opposite the Antwerp Bertschi branch and next to the established Plastics Hub, this terminal strengthens the group’s service offerings in one of the most important logistics hubs worldwide.<\/p>\n

Spanning an area of 60,000 m\u00b2, the AZT terminal offers ample capacity for chemical logistics with space for the storage of over 2,500 TEU in containers, including 1,290 TEU specifically for hazardous goods in tank containers. Equipped with advanced safety infrastructure such as fireproof zones, redundant fire pump systems, and a remote-controlled portal crane, the terminal ensures the Bertschi standard for safe and efficient operations. Together with the chemical logistics hubs in Rotterdam, Jurong Island (Singapore), and Zhangjiagang (China), Bertschi is well-prepared to handle the growing global import\/export trade of chemical products.<\/p>\n

This state-of-the-art facility is a significant milestone in the Bertschi strategy to support sustainable and safe global chemical supply chains. With four handling tracks of 650 meters each, the KV terminal is designed to accommodate entire trains, thereby expanding intermodal options for customers. This ensures a seamless flow of goods from overseas imports from the harbor basin via inland waterway to the AZT, storage, and subsequent distribution by rail and truck to the final destination.<\/p>\n

Thus, the AZT is the ideal hub for imports and exports to and from overseas \u2013 with inland waterway connections from the deep-sea port via a neighboring provider, product storage in tank containers, and integrated intermodal pre- and post-haulage throughout Europe.<\/p>\n

Options for Bonded Storage<\/h5>\n

The AZT terminal has permits for the storage of hazardous goods of ADR classes 3, 4.1, 5.1, 5.2, 6.1, 8, and 9. Additionally, options for bonded storage are offered, and products can be heated on-site, with 60 tank container heating spots and a high degree of process automation.<\/p>\n
