The trailer manufacturer Schmitz Cargobull is strengthening its commitment at the Vreden site and will invest more than 50 million euros in the expansion of production capacities for refrigerated trailers and box vehicles over the next few years. The extensive measures aim to further enhance the company’s competitiveness.<\/strong><\/h5>\n

(Horstmar) At the heart of the investments is the construction of a new 4,500 m\u00b2 production hall, where vehicle assembly will be completely restructured. By introducing state-of-the-art technologies, the production capacity is expected to increase significantly. The number of refrigerated vehicles produced per shift will be raised to 40, while the increased use of automation and digitalization will reduce the cycle time per trailer from the current 15 to 10 minutes. This means a significant increase in efficiency and productivity at the Vreden site.<\/p>\n

A central component of this project is the intensive use of digital tools in the planning of the new buildings and facilities. This enables an optimized design of work processes, allowing the planned measures to be implemented efficiently and future-proof. Digital simulations will be conducted for future production processes to test and secure the new processes early on.<\/p>\n

The Vreden site is also one of two flagship factories as part of the funding project “Datenfabrik.NRW”. Schmitz Cargobull is taking a pioneering role in the development of the digital factory in the region and setting new standards for digital transformation in the industry.<\/p>\n

In addition to the new production hall, a new logistics concept will be introduced to further improve internal processes. Furthermore, the gradual modernization of component production will be advanced to future-proof the Vreden site. All essential measures will be implemented at the main plant for refrigerated vehicle production at S\u00fcdlohner Diek.<\/p>\n

Delivery Center Will Be Expanded Simultaneously<\/h5>\n

In addition to expanding production capacities, the existing delivery center at the Gro\u00dfe Mast site will be enlarged. The existing parking capacity will be doubled on the adjacent vacant lots, thereby accelerating and optimizing the vehicle delivery process. The elimination of the need to rent external parking spaces in the surrounding area will also reduce traffic congestion and lower costs. The increased use of electrically powered tractors will further enhance the efficiency and sustainability of logistics processes.<\/p>\n
