Kaufland is accelerating its E-transformation in delivery traffic and is now electrifying its logistics location in Barsinghausen with the initiative “Electra.” Three different models from manufacturers Renault, Volvo, and Daimler Trucks will soon supply stores in the Hannover area electrically from here. Two RT e-Tech trucks from Renault are already on the road, and the FH 42 Electric from Volvo will soon be making its silent rounds as well.<\/strong><\/h5>\n

(Neckarsulm\/Barsinghausen) The particularly innovative eActros 600 from Mercedes Benz is set to complete the test fleet, which will already bring an annual CO2 savings potential of around 5.5 tons, at the beginning of next year. Not only electric trucks will be used, but also fully electric refrigerated trailers. These are from different manufacturers to gain as diverse insights as possible from the test. Initially, charging will take place at two mobile charging units at the logistics center in Barsinghausen. In the long term, Kaufland plans to establish a charging park in Barsinghausen similar to the one already existing in M\u00f6ckm\u00fchl, Baden-W\u00fcrttemberg.<\/p>\n

“We have already been able to gain experience for over half a year with our E-charging park in M\u00f6ckm\u00fchl. Based on this, we are conducting feasibility analyses for all our logistics locations to deploy electric trucks at additional sites and build the charging infrastructure. With Barsinghausen, we are now supplying some of our stores electrically from another location and taking the next step in the sustainable transformation of our transport logistics,” says Pascal Siegmund, Head of International Transport Logistics at Kaufland.<\/p>\n

The pilot project titled “Electra” is being carried out in collaboration with several companies from the Schwarz Group. For example, the environmental service provider PreZero, as the appointed carrier, provides the drivers and will be involved in the delivery of Kaufland stores for the first time. The project is coordinated by Schwarz Logistik.<\/p>\n

Pioneering Major Project and Industry Exchange<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Kaufland launched a pioneering project at the logistics location in M\u00f6ckm\u00fchl at the end of last year and opened its first charging park with eight charging stations there. The project is one of the largest in Germany. Kaufland is deploying eight electric trucks for store deliveries there.<\/p>\n

At the invitation of the companies in the Schwarz Group, manufacturers, carriers, and industry experts also discussed the decarbonization of transport logistics at the beginning of June. The “Future Day,” the first trade fair of its kind in Germany, focused on the question: How can E-transformation in delivery traffic succeed? The format provided the ideal framework to intensify the discussion within the logistics industry. With this “Future Day,” the dialogue within the logistics sector has been successfully intensified. Now, Kaufland is taking the next step following these important words.<\/p>\n
