The new TrailerPort in Alberthafen Dresden was ceremoniously opened today with the arrival of the first train, by the Commissioner for Major Settlements in the Free State of Saxony, Dirk Diedrichs, the Head of the Mobility Department at the Saxon State Ministry for Economic Affairs, Labour and Transport (SMWA), Stephan Berger, and SBO Managing Director Heiko Loroff (S\u00e4chsische Binnenh\u00e4fen Oberelbe GmbH).<\/strong><\/h5>\n

(Dresden) With this project, SBO has invested around 5.7 million euros in sustainable traffic relocation at the Dresden site. Two million euros of the investment costs are funded by the federal KV funding guideline (Guideline for the Promotion of Transshipment Facilities for Combined Transport).<\/p>\n

Since 2021, the TrailerPort has been part of SBO’s portfolio in Alberthafen Dresden. Here, approximately 25,000 trailers (semi-trailers) with a volume of around 600,000 tons are transshipped from road to rail each year to transport goods from Saxony, Bohemia, and Southeast Europe to Scandinavia in an environmentally friendly and climate-friendly manner. To meet the increasing demand for rail transport in combined transport and for traffic relocations, the new TrailerPort has now been built on the southern side of the port, allowing for the transshipment of up to 50,000 trailers and containers per year in Alberthafen Dresden.<\/p>\n

Contribution to the Stability of Supply Chains<\/h5>\n

In his greeting, Mr. Dirk Diedrichs, Commissioner for Major Settlements in the Free State of Saxony, emphasized: “Economic settlement and expansion projects are more than ever associated with the increase in national and international interconnections and supply chains. Flexible and intermodal mobility in freight transport is therefore an essential prerequisite for the functioning and success of investments and a competitive economy. With the capacity expansion of the TrailerPort, SBO is making a proactive and significant contribution to the success of economic investments as well as to the stability and functionality of supply chains.”<\/p>\n

The construction services for the new TrailerPort were carried out by Richard Schulz Tiefbau GmbH from Schwarzheide. On a total area of 18,000 m\u00b2, both a loading and unloading zone, which was built as a so-called AwSV area (sealed area for the transshipment of water-endangering substances), and a parking area for about 100 trailers have been created. The transshipment and traffic areas of the new TrailerPort were constructed using the so-called HGT-in-situ construction method. In this process, the hydraulically bound base layer (HGT) is produced on-site using concrete and construction material milling machines. The resulting material is used as a building material and improved with the addition of hydraulic binders. This innovative construction method saved the transport of around 5,000 tons of building material.<\/p>\n

Up to 20 Full Trains per Week<\/h5>\n

With the new TrailerPort, SBO can handle up to 20 full trains per week in a 3-shift system. Previously, it was up to 10 full trains per week in a 2-shift system. For the handling of trailers and containers, a shunting vehicle of the type ROTRAC, a terminal tractor, and a reach stacker were also procured as part of the investment project.<\/p>\n
