A joint venture of Kapsch TrafficCom and the Swiss LOSTnFOUND<\/strong> AG (part of AddSecure) has been awarded the contract by the Swiss Federal Office for Customs and Border Security (BAZG) for the supply of hardware and services for the national truck toll system.<\/strong> Kapsch TrafficCom will make a central contribution and generate a low double-digit million amount from it.<\/strong><\/h5>\n

(Bern\/Vienna) The financial scope of the contract amounts to approximately EUR 54 million and includes a duration of eight years, with an optional extension of two years. In a 50:50 joint venture with the local partner company LOSTnFOUND AG (part of AddSecure), the project focuses on customer service, vehicle equipment, and data collection from trucks weighing more than 3.5 tons. The toll collection system will thus become significantly more user-friendly and transparent.<\/p>\n

Michael Weber, Head of Sales EMENA at Kapsch TrafficCom, comments on the success: “We are pleased to make a central contribution to the renewal of the Swiss toll collection system with our hardware and software. Additionally, our onboard device is certified according to the EU taxonomy regulation on climate change.”<\/i><\/p>\n

The project includes the delivery of GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System)-capable onboard devices for the vehicles subject to tolls, the collection of GPS data registered by the devices, its transmission to the federal office responsible for toll collection, as well as customer service.<\/p>\n

T\u00dcV-Certified Vehicle Equipment<\/h5>\n

For equipping trucks weighing more than 3.5 tons with the GNSS onboard device, the onboard device itself and the basic processes such as vehicle registration, delivery, and repair of the devices will be provided. The devices from Kapsch TrafficCom are T\u00dcV-certified and demonstrably the most sustainable in their class.<\/p>\n

The onboard device determines waypoints based on GNSS localization, records trailer parameters and total weight, and transmits this driving data via the mobile communication network to the back office \/ IT system of the joint venture provider. There, the driving data is processed and subsequently forwarded to the BAZG for processing.<\/p>\n

Multilingual Customer Service<\/h5>\n

The customer service includes an online service portal that assists with the administration of the vehicles. The ordering, reporting of malfunctions, and replacement of an onboard device can be done through the service portal in German, French, Italian, and English. Furthermore, there is a special outage solution for subsequent data collection or modification. A telephone hotline also ensures personal support for vehicle owners.<\/p>\n
