Whether it\u2019s the classic diesel with the economical turbo compound engine called I-Save, the gas-powered alternative that can save 100% CO\u2082 when fueled with bio-LNG, or the electric trucks in the 16 to 44-ton segment. Volvo Trucks has the right technology for every application.<\/h5>\n

(Ismaning) In a time when the pressure for sustainable transport solutions is increasing and the requirements of the transport environment are changing, fleet managers and operators face the challenge of choosing the best drive for their individual needs. In light of this decision-making pressure, the industry emphasizes the importance of alternatives through electric, gas, and the ongoing improvements in diesel drives. The last 30 years have been characterized by significant technological advancements in the transport sector, and the development of trucks has played a key role here. Even back then, Volvo Trucks’ trucks were leaders in technology and innovation.<\/p>\n

In recent weeks, journalists from across Europe had the opportunity to test the drives offered by Volvo Trucks. They were given the chance to drive a unique vehicle: a 30-year-old Volvo FH16 with 520 hp. The vehicle with the serial number 0001 is usually on display at the Volvo Museum in Gothenburg and was specially brought to Germany for the anniversary. In a kind of competition, the journalists could convince themselves of the efficiency of the trucks and measure which drive they themselves were the most economical with.<\/p>\n

Diesel Trucks – More Efficient Than Ever<\/h5>\n

The latest generation of Volvo diesel trucks sets standards in fuel efficiency. Through advanced technologies, such as improved engines and aerodynamic optimizations, modern diesel trucks are more economical than ever before. The Volvo FH with I-Save combines the D13TC engine with the fuel-saving package. This can reduce fuel costs by up to ten percent*. Furthermore, with I-Save, it is possible to drive longer at lower revs in higher gears, making driving quieter and more comfortable. Additionally, drivers can look forward to better responsiveness of the drivetrain. This drive remains a relevant option for companies that rely on proven technologies while also wanting to improve their CO\u2082 balance.<\/article>\n<\/div>\n

Gas-Powered Trucks – Sustainable Today<\/h5>\n

Gas-powered trucks prove to be a promising solution for long-distance transport, as well as for distribution transport. The technology not only offers a significant reduction in CO\u2082 emissions but also provides an efficient, powerful alternative to conventional diesel drives, as the driving and performance characteristics are similar to those of a diesel. The reason lies in the drivetrain, which is based on proven diesel engine technology. No other manufacturer offers anything comparable. The Volvo gas-powered truck delivers the same performance \u2013 but with 20% less CO\u2082 emissions**. When fueled with bio-fuel, the values can be reduced to up to 100%.<\/p>\n

Electric into the Future<\/h5>\n

The electrification of road freight transport is no longer a distant prospect but has been a reality in series production at Volvo Trucks since 2019. Electric trucks offer an environmentally friendly solution that not only reduces CO\u2082 emissions but also represents a quieter and more sustainable transport option. About 45% of European transports take place over distances of less than 300 kilometers per day. Therefore, electric trucks are an attractive option for urban and regional deliveries, especially when companies have their own charging infrastructure. The transport industry remains a dynamic field where companies are constantly striving to integrate the latest technologies to not only remain competitive but also contribute to global sustainability.<\/p><\/div>\n
