(Wil\/Basel) As part of the site development at the Basel freight station, a residential development project will be realized at the current location of H\u00e4nger. The facts required the long-established family business to reorient itself, which led to discussions with Camion Transport. Since both companies operate on the same site and complement each other perfectly in terms of services, the decision is a plus for both parties. And for the customers of both family businesses, it adds value. “We benefit mutually; it is the classic win-win situation, and we look forward to our new colleagues,” says Josef J\u00e4ger, Director of Camion Transport.<\/p>\n
Camion Transport will continue H\u00e4nger’s activities in the area of special handling with their staff and will establish it as its own department at the Basel branch. Karin Ruppen, Managing Director of H\u00e4nger, will be responsible for this area with her many years of experience as the head of the department. “I am very happy with the decision. We have found a good solution, also forward-looking for my employees and our customers,” emphasizes Ruppen. Fritz H\u00e4nger, her father and owner of the company, adds: “Camion Transport has guaranteed us in the discussions that they will ensure and expand our business operations.” It is important for them to secure the valuable know-how of their team and to continue the customer relationships. Among these is the SBB Swiss Federal Railways, as the oldest customer in the area of railcar loading. For Camion Transport, maintaining a high quality level is the top priority.<\/p>\n
To optimally integrate the new department, the Eastern Swiss family business will take over additional halls with a total of 7,500 m2 at the freight station starting January 1, 2024. A renovation is planned in part of this area together with the landlord SBB. “We want to create the necessary infrastructure for special handling, such as a heavy goods ramp and access ramp,” explains Michael Werner, Branch Manager of Camion Transport Basel, and adds: “The move from the current H\u00e4nger location to this new one is planned for the third quarter of 2024.” With the new infrastructure, the continuation of the special handling service and its expansion is secured. Overall, Camion Transport will then have around 15,000 m2 of handling space, 23,000 m2 of storage space, as well as 1,000 m2 of hazardous materials storage and 80 ramp spaces at the Basel location.<\/p>\n
