The international transport and logistics company Gebr\u00fcder Weiss is further expanding its network of locations in southern Germany in the field of land transport and has retroactively acquired WEDLICH. Logistics – Transport – Moving GmbH in Bayreuth as of January 1, 2023. The family-owned company, with around 100 employees, specializes in warehousing, moving, and land transport.<\/h5>\n

( Lauterach\/Bayreuth ) Werner Dettenthaler, Managing Director of Land Transport Germany at Gebr\u00fcder Weiss, has known the company for many years and is convinced of its service quality: “Wedlich has an excellent reputation as a logistics provider and is firmly rooted in the Upper Franconia region. With its logistics, transport, and moving services and the expertise of its employees, it is an ideal complement to our services in Northern Bavaria.” The company will operate in Bayreuth as Gebr\u00fcder Weiss \u2013 Transport and Logistics starting August 1, 2023, and will complement the Bavarian locations in Nuremberg, Straubing, Passau, Memmingen, and Waldkraiburg.<\/p>\n

Wedlich was founded in 1946 and has been owned by the eponymous family until now. Managing Director Christian Wedlich: “With Gebr\u00fcder Weiss, we have found the perfect new owner. Like Gebr\u00fcder Weiss, we place the needs of our customers at the center, train our own staff, and focus on sustainability. As a subsidiary of Gebr\u00fcder Weiss, we offer our customers the full range of services of a global logistics company, and our employees benefit from attractive development opportunities.”<\/p>\n

In Bayreuth, Wedlich operates a modern logistics facility with a transshipment and storage area of 15,000 m\u00b2, as well as another 15,000 m\u00b2 in nearby Bad Berneck. The company meets its energy needs through its own photovoltaic system at the logistics terminal. The facility produces 700 megawatt-hours of electricity per year, making it the largest photovoltaic system in Bayreuth.<\/p>\n

Part of a Comprehensive Strategy<\/h5>\n

The acquisition of Wedlich is part of a comprehensive strategy in which Gebr\u00fcder Weiss is gradually consolidating its network in southern Germany. Just recently, the logistics provider acquired the B+A air and sea freight forwarding company in Nuremberg. In addition to Bayreuth, nine other locations are part of Gebr\u00fcder Weiss’s southern German land transport network: Aldingen, Altensteig, Esslingen, Lindau, Memmingen, Nuremberg, Passau, Straubing, and Waldkraiburg.<\/p>\n
