EBIT grew to 18.5 billion US dollars (17.5 billion euros). This was significantly driven by higher freight rates. At the same time, disruptions in global supply chains and inflation led to a substantial increase in overall costs.<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>The revenues increased to 36.4 billion US dollars (34.5 billion euros), particularly due to a rise in the average freight rate to 2,863 USD\/TEU (2021: 2,003 USD\/TEU). However, by the end of the year, the freight rate had already decreased significantly due to easing congestion and lower demand.
