EUROGATE Intermodal GmbH (EGIM), a provider of combined transport based in Hamburg, will include the EUROGATE Container Terminal (CTW) in Wilhelmshaven in its network starting mid-January 2023.<\/strong><\/h5>\n

(Hamburg) From January 16, 2023, EGIM will incorporate Germany’s only deep-water port with a regular direct rail connection to Southern Germany into its schedule. In the first quarter, weekly direct connections will start between the CTW and Duisburg, Munich, Nuremberg, and Kornwestheim. Shortly thereafter, in the second quarter, additional important destinations such as Ulm, Mannheim, and Frankfurt\/Main will be added. From June 2023, EGIM will then offer an increased frequency of a total of 13 weekly round trips.<\/p>\n

Environmentally friendly rail transport has strategic significance for the further development of the future-oriented port location of Wilhelmshaven, especially since the JadeWeserPort (JWP) is now fully accessible by electric locomotives. For EGIM, it is a logical step to significantly enhance the range of sustainable transport solutions not only to Southern Germany but also in Western Germany. New corridors will be consistently developed with new connections from Wilhelmshaven. The further expansion of the rail infrastructure between Wilhelmshaven and regions along the Rhine corridor will accelerate this development and thus change the flow of goods, as trains can travel directly and efficiently to the Niedersachsen quay.<\/p>\n

All new connections can also be booked via the fully digital booking platform railMybox, which was introduced in early May 2022. The user-friendly system, which impresses with capacity commitments at fixed prices, is seeing increasing registrations and bookings.<\/p>\n

In light of ever-larger container ships, the JWP, with a water depth of 18 meters, is becoming increasingly important for foreign trade. Eight shipping companies have already firmly integrated the JWP into their schedules, benefiting from nautical advantages along the North Sea coast. The CTW is experiencing high growth rates and achieved a record throughput of 712,953 TEU in 2021.<\/p>\n
