Today, the new facility in Oberkr\u00e4mer, Brandenburg, begins operations. With 23,000 square meters of usable space, goods can be stored and transshipped. A total of 160 new jobs will be created at this location.<\/strong><\/h5>\n

(Gro\u00dfbeeren\/Oberkr\u00e4mer) The new location is situated in the VGP Park Oberkr\u00e4mer, in the northern part of Berlin. The terminal offers 12,000 square meters for shipment handling, 8,000 square meters are designated as storage space, and approximately 3,000 square meters are office areas. A total of 111 loading and unloading gates facilitate efficient goods entry and exit.<\/p>\n

The two operational business areas of freight forwarding and logistics under one roof provide the advantage that commissioned goods and pallets from the warehouse can be directly loaded onto the general cargo lines. A total of 100 local delivery trucks start their routes from Oberkr\u00e4mer, with a large part belonging to the own fleet. This allows Rieck to respond particularly flexibly to customer requests.<\/p>\n

Optimized Processes<\/strong><\/h5>\n

“With the new building, we are not only prepared for the continuously increasing shipment volumes,” explains Stefan Rieck, managing partner. “We were also able to redefine the delivery areas to optimize processes and shorten routes.”<\/p>\n

From Oberkr\u00e4mer, the northern part of Berlin as well as North and Northeast Brandenburg will be supplied, while the southern region will be served from the headquarters in Gro\u00dfbeeren. Accordingly, 50 percent of the volumes will shift from Gro\u00dfbeeren to Oberkr\u00e4mer at the start \u2013 including both own customer projects and routes for the general cargo cooperation IDS. With the commissioning, various new customers from the B2B and B2C (fulfillment) sectors have also begun storing goods in Oberkr\u00e4mer. At the start, the utilization will be around 90 percent.<\/p>\n

Green Operations<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Thanks to the shorter routes, the vehicles can make more stops, thereby improving the CO2 footprint. Rieck also placed importance on ecological orientation in the operation of the facility: A photovoltaic system is currently being installed on the roof. The electricity is intended for the supply of the terminal and, in the long term, for the fleet. The site features not only charging stations for cars but also two own 180 kW e-charging stations for trucks. Interior and exterior areas are illuminated with LED lights. The entire truck fleet consists of Euro6 vehicles.<\/p>\n

Rieck has implemented the construction together with the VGP Group \u2013 just like the logistics terminal in Rade near Hamburg in 2017. The investment sum for the new location is around 28 million euros. Currently, forklift drivers and truck drivers are still being sought.<\/p>\n
