The K\u00f6rber Supply Chain Benchmarking Report 2022 has revealed that employee recruitment and retention remain among the biggest challenges in the logistics industry. According to the study, only 37% of companies have enough workforce; more than one in three changes at least 50% of its warehouse staff over the course of the year.<\/h5>\n

(Hamburg) “As one in three logistics companies must replace at least half of its warehouse-related personnel annually, companies need to rethink their strategies. Solutions are needed to motivate employees in the long term, make jobs more attractive, improve onboarding measures for temporary workers to manage seasonal peaks, and comply with constantly changing health and safety regulations. This task can be managed with suitable software solutions and technologies,” says Chad Collins, CEO Software in the K\u00f6rber Supply Chain business unit.<\/p>\n

The K\u00f6rber Supply Chain Benchmarking Report 2022 provides detailed insights into the current state of the industry. The participating companies were categorized into four maturity levels (leading, advanced, developing, and starting). The study also shows what strategies leading companies have developed to respond to the increasingly tight labor market. While 65% of companies face challenges, leading market players go beyond conventional methods of recruitment and retention, placing a stronger emphasis on topics such as employee well-being and safety. The vast majority of them invest in workplace safety, gamification, and ergonomics to attract and retain employees.<\/p>\n

Employee Engagement is Key<\/h5>\n

“In an increasingly strained labor market, employee engagement is key to attracting and retaining personnel. It is especially important to have the right tools and technologies. Gamification, artificial intelligence, and voice-assisted picking systems are just a few examples among many to address not only productivity in the warehouse but also personnel challenges related to declining unemployment rates or high employee turnover,” adds Sean Elliott, CTO Software in the K\u00f6rber Supply Chain business unit.<\/p>\n

With a wide range of technologies and expertise, K\u00f6rber supports addressing the growing complexities in logistics. This includes solutions in the areas of warehouse management, material flow control, robotics, voice control, and simulation, which promote not only optimized operational processes but also aspects of employee satisfaction and retention.<\/p>\n

200 Companies from North America and Europe Surveyed<\/h5>\n

For the study, more than 200 companies with at least 500 employees in North America and Europe were surveyed. It is part of a broad research initiative in collaboration with leading international analysts. The website also offers a quick self-assessment to provide visitors with insight into the maturity level of their own logistics processes.<\/p>\n
