Transgourmet Deutschland GmbH & Co. OHG, a specialist in reliable nationwide supply with a high-quality full range for large consumers in gastronomy and community catering, is expanding its fleet with 109 new IVECO S-WAY CNG chassis with multi-temperature bodies.<\/h5>\n

(Ulm\/Riedstadt) With this order, Transgourmet now has a total of 114 biogas-powered IVECO vehicles in daily operation at Transgourmet Foodservice and EGV AG, a subsidiary of Transgourmet, significantly contributing to the decarbonization of road freight transport. By using bio-CNG, customers from gastronomy, hospitality, company catering, and social institutions benefit from nearly CO2-neutral deliveries with environmentally friendly IVECO biogas trucks. The biogas vehicles are primarily used in urban delivery operations as well as in the surrounding areas of the Transgourmet distribution centers.<\/p>\n

The new 109 biogas vehicles for Transgourmet mainly consist of IVECO S-WAY CNG 2-axle chassis of the type AD190S34\/FP and AD190S40\/FP. This designation refers to a fully air-suspended 4×2 standard chassis with a technically permissible total weight of 19 tons, an Active-Day normal cab with a low roof, and either a 340 hp or a 400 hp 9-liter engine according to Euro VI standards with CNG drive. On both the left and right sides, there are four gas tanks with a gravimetric filling volume of a total of 160 kilograms. This allows for a range of up to 670 kilometers.<\/p>\n

The order also includes IVECO S-WAY CNG 3-axle chassis of the type AD260S34Y\/FS. These are fully air-suspended 6×2 standard chassis with a technically permissible total weight of 26 tons, an Active-Day normal cab with a low roof, and a 340 hp 9-liter engine according to Euro VI standards with CNG drive. Additionally, there is an “exotic” vehicle among the new vehicles for Transgourmet. With a vehicle of the type AD260S40Y\/FS, the delivery wholesaler is testing an IVECO S-WAY 3-axle chassis with LNG drive for the first time. This 6×2 standard chassis differs from the previously described one only by a 400 hp 9-liter engine according to Euro VI standards with LNG drive. The LNG tank holds 195 kilograms of liquid gas, allowing for a range of up to 800 kilometers.<\/p>\n

Transgourmet Custom Equipment<\/h5>\n

The IVECO S-WAY natural gas chassis are optimally tailored to the drivers’ requirements at the factory upon customer request. In addition to a fully automatic air conditioning system and a luxury driver’s seat with lumbar support and a three-stage heating function, drivers can look forward to further amenities in the cab.<\/p>\n

Fog lights including cornering and turning lights, preparation for tail lift operation, a power take-off for particularly quiet operation of the modern electric cooling unit, and multi-chamber refrigerated bodies from renowned manufacturers complete the vehicles.<\/p>\n

Transgourmet consciously relies on the sustainable and environmentally friendly biogas-powered variants of the IVECO S-WAY, as they are perfectly suited for deliveries in urban areas and thus in densely populated residential areas with partially heavily regulated environmental zones. Compared to a diesel truck, nitrogen dioxide and soot emissions are significantly lower. By using bio-CNG at Transgourmet \u2013 which is increasingly available in Germany \u2013 up to 95 percent less CO2 emissions are possible. The environmentally friendly biogas trucks are also significantly quieter than a comparable diesel truck, allowing for continued noise-reduced deliveries to customers.<\/p>\n

Part of the Sustainability Strategy<\/h5>\n

Sven Sauerwein, Head of Logistics Services at Transgourmet, explains the fleet change: “The acquisition of the new IVECO S-WAY CNG is part of Transgourmet’s sustainability strategy. In 2018, we already integrated the first gas-powered vehicles into our fleet and had very good experiences with them. Therefore, this is the next step towards fleet transformation. Our customers today expect not only flawless high-quality goods but also as environmentally friendly a delivery as possible. We are happy to meet this requirement out of our own conviction. By 2026, we aim to procure at least 300 CNG-powered commercial vehicles to reduce the CO2 emissions in our truck fleet by at least 20 percent. This is also part of our ‘Green Logistics’ project. Since October 2022, we have been delivering all our customers in a climate-neutral manner, thus contributing further to environmental and climate protection. With this decision, we are once again setting standards and taking a pioneering role in the food service industry, as we are the first food wholesaler in Germany to offer climate-neutral deliveries. We rely on CNG drive because the infrastructure and, above all, the ranges are suitable, and we are operating almost CO2-neutrally with locally produced biomethane in Germany.”<\/p>\n
