Hydrogen technologies will play an indispensable role in the global fight against climate change: This was affirmed by the CEOs of the expert organization DEKRA and the association Hydrogen Europe, Stan Zurkiewicz and Jorgo Chatzimarkakis, during a meeting in Brussels. To achieve this, the right foundations must be laid today, according to the two top managers: Essential prerequisites are a safe infrastructure and secure applications for hydrogen. In addition, society needs globally valid rules for climate-neutral “green” hydrogen.<\/h5>\n

The exit from fossil energy in the sense of the Paris Climate Agreement can, in DEKRA’s view, only be achieved through the implementation of a green hydrogen economy. “A comprehensive regulatory framework with norms, standards, and testing obligations is essential for a safe transition to a hydrogen-based future and is a prerequisite for hydrogen applications to gain acceptance in society, industry, and politics \u2013 our global goal must be ‘H2 Readiness’.”<\/p>\n

Hydrogen Europe CEO Jorgo Chatzimarkakis said: “We are currently facing the next industrial revolution, which requires long-term thinking and competent partners. Global and monitored regulations for green hydrogen as well as robust safety standards are necessary. To achieve this, legal frameworks are required, along with efforts from the industry and independent organizations like DEKRA, which can ensure the safety and credibility of the hydrogen economy.”<\/p>\n

Along the Hydrogen Value Chain<\/h5>\n

DEKRA has been a member of the industry association Hydrogen Europe since 2021 and acts as a testing, inspection, and certification company (TIC) along the entire hydrogen value chain. With regard to the production, transport, distribution, and application of hydrogen solutions, DEKRA contributes essential know-how \u2013 not least in successful customer and pilot projects.<\/p>\n

Hydrogen Europe is the leading organization representing companies and stakeholders based in Europe that are committed to the transition to a carbon-neutral (circular) economy. More than 420 companies, 20 EU regions, and 30 national associations are represented.<\/p>\n
