Fiege is constructing a new logistics center in Saxony-Anhalt. The family-owned company from Greven in Westphalia is building a state-of-the-art multi-user site for the healthcare sector on an area of around 90,000 square meters in Barleben, north of Magdeburg.<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>(Greven\/Barleben) A total of 42,000 square meters of logistics space will be created in Barleben, distributed across four warehouse halls, two cold storage facilities, and two adjacent office complexes. The completion of the new Fiege location is planned for the end of 2022. The construction project is being realized by Fiege&#8217;s Real Estate division, the general contractor Bremer, and the architectural firm J\u00fcrgen Schlake.<\/p>\n<p>Dirk Berlemann, Managing Director of Fiege&#8217;s Healthcare division, says: &#8220;Our new logistics center features various temperature zones, allowing for the handling of sensitive pharmaceuticals. However, the highlight of the site is certainly the handling of narcotics. For this, we meet the highest requirements in terms of safety and documentation \u2013 this is the Champions League of pharmaceutical logistics.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>And not only in terms of safety does Fiege meet the highest standards in Barleben. The logistics service provider pays attention to the highest standards in all areas when constructing the new site, which has good connections to the A2 towards Hanover and Berlin, as well as good access to the A14 towards Leipzig and Halle (Saale). The logistics center in Barleben will be certified according to the WELL Building Standard with a focus on the health and satisfaction of employees, and also with regard to the sustainability of the site, it will meet the Platinum Standard of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB).<\/p>\n<p>Kai Alfermann, Managing Director at Fiege Real Estate, explains: &#8220;Sustainability is not only one of the strategic priorities in our company, but it also played a central role in the planning of our new site in Barleben.
