The Kombiverkehr offers a new direct train from L\u00fcbeck (Terminal D\u00e4nischburg) via the Fixed Link to Halmstad (Port of Halland) in cooperation with the freight forwarder Bode. Initially, there will be a weekly round trip. However, a second round trip is planned for mid this year. The traction of the trains is provided by DB Cargo Scandinavia.<\/strong><\/h5>\n

(Frankfurt\/L\u00fcbeck\/Halmstad)<\/em> With the arrival of the first train in Halmstad today, Kombiverkehr KG has expanded its Germany \u2013 Sweden v.v. service in its European intermodal network from L\u00fcbeck. The new direct train connection complements the existing service to and from Trelleborg, Malm\u00f6, Hallsberg, Gothenburg, and Stockholm with an additional catchment area in the southern part of Sweden. The starting and destination point is the logistics center Port of Halland in Halmstad, while the Lehmann Terminal in D\u00e4nischburg serves as the dispatch and receiving terminal for trailers, swap bodies, and containers in L\u00fcbeck. From there, onward transport is possible via MegaHub Hannover Lehrte to Verona and further to Southern Italy, as well as to Duisburg, Ludwigshafen, Munich, Rotterdam, and Lovosice in the Czech Republic.<\/p>\n

Less than Twelve Hours Travel Time<\/strong><\/h5>\n

The trains, which are operated by DB Cargo Scandinavia and travel directly via the Fixed Link, reach their destination in less than twelve hours. Initially, the operator offers the new route once a week. “We are already preparing for a second weekly departure, which we will offer to all customers from mid this year, as we see Sweden as an important intermodal growth market. Last year alone, we transported more than 50,000 truck shipments on our trains in continental traffic. Additionally, there were several thousand shipments transported by rail in broken traffic via the Baltic Sea ports, where the freight forwarders purchased the ferry service independently. Together with our customers, we will bring more road transport onto the climate-friendly rail in the Scandinavian-Mediterranean corridor,” says Alexander Ochs, Managing Director of Kombiverkehr KG.<\/p>\n

Saving 1.2 Tons of CO2<\/sub><\/strong><\/h5>\n

Each transport on the L\u00fcbeck \u2013 Halmstad v.v. route with 25 tons of cargo weight saves the environment 1.2 tons of CO2<\/sub> in the round trip and represents a saving of more than 70 percent compared to continuous road traffic. The co-initiator of the new train connection is the freight forwarder Bode GmbH & Co. KG based in Reinfeld in Holstein, which has relied on the operator’s services for many years.<\/p>\n
