Hydrogen filling station operator H2 MOBILITY Germany announced this week in Berlin, during a press event, a financing round from its shareholders amounting to 110 million euros. Daimler Truck is also participating as a shareholder in this financing round, with funds intended for the existing filling station network and the establishment of new hydrogen stations.<\/strong><\/h5>\n

(Stuttgart\/Berlin) Present in Berlin: the Mercedes-Benz GenH2 Truck. The fuel cell prototype has been undergoing intensive testing on the test track and on public roads since last year. The company demonstrated how far Daimler Truck has progressed in the development of hydrogen trucks during a subsequent tour through the capital.<\/p>\n

In order for CO2-neutral transport of the future with hydrogen-powered trucks to hit the roads as quickly as possible, the rapid establishment of a comprehensive refueling infrastructure in Europe is essential. Both private initiatives like H2 MOBILITY and appropriate regulatory frameworks from politics through relevant legislation are crucial.<\/p>\n

Truck Enjoyed Great Popularity<\/strong><\/h5>\n

The GenH2 Truck was very popular during the event. Participants gathered information about the vehicle and took a few photos with the truck. Among them was Ismail Ertug, a member of the European Parliament and the responsible rapporteur in the Transport Committee for the AFIR (Alternative Fuel Infrastructure Regulation), who tweeted a photo with the truck: “H2 MOBILITY Germany is a successful project in building hydrogen infrastructure in Germany. The #AFIR provides the legal basis for it.” He referred to the upcoming infrastructure legislation he has significantly advanced for the important Europe-wide establishment of charging stations and hydrogen filling stations. In this, he demands not only a significant expansion of the charging station network for trucks but also a similarly strong network for hydrogen filling stations. In particular, he has tightened the Commission’s proposal for liquid hydrogen filling stations.<\/p>\n

Only CO2-Neutral Vehicles by 2039<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Daimler Truck aims to offer only new vehicles that are CO2-neutral in operation in global core markets by the year 2039. The company has clarified its strategic direction and is consistently pursuing a dual strategy for the electrification of its portfolio with both battery-electric and hydrogen-based drives.<\/p>\n
