Effective November 1, Tobias Schmidt has been appointed CEO of DHL Global Forwarding Europe. He succeeds Thomas George, who has successfully led the European organization since 2016, at the air and sea freight specialist of Deutsche Post DHL Group. In his new role, Schmidt reports directly to Tim Scharwath, CEO of DHL Global Forwarding, Freight, and continues to lead the German and Swiss organization in a dual role.<\/strong><\/h5>\n

(Bonn) Thomas George will now focus on his global role as Chief Commercial Officer, which he has held since 2020, while continuing to report to Tim Scharwath.<\/p>\n

“We are confident that Tobias Schmidt’s entrepreneurial spirit and proven track record in the forwarding market will help further expand DHL Global Forwarding’s market share in Europe and strengthen the European organization for the future,” says Tim Scharwath, CEO of DHL Global Forwarding, Freight. “Thomas George has done an excellent job as CEO of DHL Global Forwarding Europe, but will now fully concentrate on his global role as Chief Commercial Officer. With his experience and commitment, he has significantly contributed to the success of DHL Global Forwarding Europe and hands over an extremely high-performing organization to his successor.”<\/p>\n

Tobias Schmidt has over 25 years of experience in the logistics industry and a solid expertise in integration and transformation. He joined the company in April 2019 as CEO of DHL Global Forwarding Germany, focusing on performance improvement and business growth. Schmidt also increased effectiveness through automated and digitized processes. In his last position as CEO of DHL Global Forwarding Germany and Switzerland, he improved the market position in both countries by further promoting collaboration and leveraging synergies between the two countries.<\/p>\n

Europe a Key Pillar<\/strong><\/h5>\n
