Thousands of these brass memorial stones, the size of paving stones, have already been embedded in the sidewalks in front of the last chosen residences of the victims of the Nazi regime.<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>(Aschaffenburg) Every year, hundreds of Stumbling Stones are added. They document the personal fate of individuals who were persecuted, murdered, deported, displaced, or driven to suicide during the time of National Socialism.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;By taking over the shipping of the Stumbling Stones, DPD wants to set a sign for social and religious tolerance,&#8221; explains Eric Malitzke, CEO of DPD Germany. &#8220;The Stumbling Stones keep the memory of the victims of the Nazi terror regime alive in a directly tangible way. We want to support this important contribution together with our colleagues across Europe.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The artist Gunter Demnig, creator of the Stumbling Stones, states: &#8220;Our Stumbling Stones are handcrafted in Berlin, Elbenrod, and Amsterdam. From there, we ship them to numerous countries in Europe, which has previously incurred significant costs. Therefore, we are very pleased that we now have a strong supporter in DPD, who believes in our idea and makes a tangible contribution to many more Stumbling Stones in Europe.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h5><strong>Organizer: &#8220;FOUNDATION \u2013 TRACES \u2013 Gunter Demnig&#8221;<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>The Stumbling Stones project is supported by the non-profit &#8220;FOUNDATION \u2013 TRACES \u2013 Gunter Demnig.&#8221; Currently, there are almost 90,000 stones laid in over 1,800 municipalities across Europe. As the transport partner for the Stumbling Stones, DPD takes over the free shipping within Germany and Europe.
