In their current flash survey, the initiative “Die Wirtschaftsmacher” shows that a significant majority of consumers have already had personal experiences with the limited availability of goods (71 percent). This has also increased their awareness of the supply function of logistics (82 percent). Looking to the future, most do not believe that the situation will ease in the short term (65 percent).<\/strong><\/h5>\n

(Bremen) Only about two percent of respondents indicated that they had not heard or read anything about the current supply shortages and disruptions in global transport chains. Even 71 percent have already experienced shortages and delays themselves \u2013 whether in brick-and-mortar or online retail. This demonstrates how present the issue has been in public since spring 2020, whether through delivery difficulties with bicycles and accessories, garden and DIY supplies, or the current fuel shortage in the UK due to a lack of truck drivers.<\/p>\n

A mixed picture emerges regarding whether participants fear a shortage of everyday goods. Overall, about 46 percent agree “rather not” or “not at all” with the statement. In contrast, nearly 40 percent view the current developments more critically and fear that, for example, food or drugstore products could become scarce at times.<\/p>\n

Only just under a quarter of respondents expect a short-term normalization of the current situation.<\/em><\/p>\n

As uncertain as the outlook for the future may seem, one result stands out for its clarity:<\/p>\n

82 percent affirm that their awareness of the supply function of logistics has grown since the pandemic.<\/em><\/p>\n

Survey Once Again Highlights the Importance of Logistics<\/strong><\/h5>\n

“In particular, the result of the last question is of outstanding importance for us as an initiative,” emphasizes Wirtschaftsmacher spokesperson Frauke Heistermann. “Because that is precisely one of the goals of our diverse activities: to convey to people how essential logistics is for the daily functioning of the manufacturing economy or public institutions such as hospitals or any online order. We want to achieve greater appreciation for the third-largest economic sector in Germany.”<\/p>\n

Between October 4 and October 13, a total of 179 people participated in the online survey.<\/p>\n
