These new air and sea transport solutions offer our customers another opportunity to decarbonize their entire supply chain,&#8221; said Marie-Christine Lombard, CEO of GEODIS.<\/p>\n<p> Aviation fuel (Sustainable Aviation Fuel, SAF) and marine fuel (Sustainable Marine Fuel, SMF) from non-fossil sources are produced from food and agricultural waste (mainly cooking oil). Their use allows for a significant reduction in CO2 emissions throughout their entire lifecycle from production to consumption, by at least 80% for air transport and 90% for sea transport, as well as a reduction in other pollutants.<\/p>\n<h5><strong>Use of Biofuels is the Most Effective Means<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p> &#8220;The use of biofuels is currently the most effective means to significantly reduce the environmental impact of transport activities,&#8221; says Philippe de Carn\u00e9, Executive Vice President Business Development, CSR and Innovation.<\/p>\n<p> These alternative fuel sources are classified as &#8220;insecticides&#8221; or &#8220;integrated carbon reduction&#8221; as they are used within the value chain of transport vehicles, as opposed to &#8220;offsetting&#8221; sources, such as solar panels, wind turbines, or tree planting, which are not directly involved in operations.<\/p>\n<p> &#8220;These insecticide solutions provide our customers with the opportunity to have a direct impact on the global CO2 emissions associated with their shipments and to significantly reduce them,&#8221; added Philippe de Carn\u00e9. With a &#8220;Book &amp; Claim&#8221; approach, customers can make the greatest contribution by covering 100% of the CO2 emissions of their shipping activities if they wish.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h5><strong>Further Step in the Ecological Transition<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p> Providing a sustainable alternative fuel for air and sea transport is another step in GEODIS&#8217;s ecological transition.
