The Freight-Tech company Rail-Flow announces the launch of the platform “Intermodal Capacity Broker” (ICB). This aims to provide particularly small freight forwarders with easy access to combined transport. The project is funded by the EU under the name “Facilitating Intermodal Transport” (FIT) and is supported by the Allianz pro Schiene e.V. and the BGL e.V.<\/p>\n

(Frankfurt\/Main) Combined rail freight transport is gaining increasing attention and contributes to achieving climate goals. So far, small freight forwarders have been hardly represented. Reasons for this include entry barriers such as investment costs for craneable semi-trailers or a lack of partner networks.<\/p>\n

Simplification of Rebooking from Road to Rail<\/strong><\/h5>\n

The innovative solution from Rail-Flow allows for the easy rebooking of transports that have previously been handled solely by road to rail. The large network of partners enables transparency, and together with technologies for loading non-craneable semi-trailers and the optional rental of craneable trailers, even smaller truck freight forwarders gain access to combined transport without making additional investments.<\/p>\n

The so-called first and last transport mile will continue to be carried out by road and can be booked via the ICB. The interplay of the transport modes rail and road improves the environmental balance of transport by up to 80%, thus actively contributing to climate protection.<\/p>\n

Official Launch of the Intermodal Capacity Broker is on 01.12.2021<\/strong><\/h5>\n

At this year’s event of the Combined Transport Forum at the House of Logistics and Mobility (HOLM) in Frankfurt, the solution was presented. In addition to presentations by DB Cargo CEO Dr. Sigrid Nikutta and other industry experts, the co-founder and CEO of Rail-Flow, Dominik F\u00fcrste, opened the official countdown for the pilot launch of the project on the first of December this year.<\/p>\n
