The new testing center of AutoStore in Karm\u00f8y, Norway, which can simulate hot and cold weather conditions as well as earthquakes, was officially opened by Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg. During a tour of the new facility, Solberg expressed her deep impression. The center aims to advance AutoStore’s customers.<\/p>\n

(Nerde Vats\/Karm\u00f8y) The robotics technology company AutoStore has created a groundbreaking testing facility that enables faster adaptation of automated systems for its customers to keep up with order demand. Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg was deeply impressed by AutoStore’s success as she officially opened and demonstrated the new testing center.<\/p>\n

“AutoStore is a guiding star that shows the Norwegian private sector the way to growth,” she said at the official opening of the Innovation Hub.<\/p>\n

Earlier this year, the Prime Minister used AutoStore as an example when she spoke at the National Convention of the Conservative Party about the need for jobs in private companies in Norway. Humorously, she remarked: “I was introduced to AutoStore for the first time in 2018 when I visited one of their facilities in Japan and I remember thinking: If we can sell robots from Vindafjord to Japan, then anything is possible in Norway.”<\/p>\n

Profitable Jobs in the Private Sector are Important<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Karl Johan Lier, CEO of AutoStore, is proud to welcome the Prime Minister to Karm\u00f8y: “The government emphasizes how important it is to create more profitable jobs in the private sector, and AutoStore aims to achieve this through the continuous development of our offerings for our customers worldwide. At the AutoStore Innovation Hub, we combine the excellent expertise of our skilled team with the latest technology, enabling us to constantly test and develop new solutions.”<\/p>\n

The Innovation Hub is equipped with a combination of robotics technology and infrastructure for supply chain and retail facilities that cannot be found anywhere else in the world. The hub will be able to test the solutions developed for global retailers and their branch and warehouse facilities.<\/p>\n

For Various Needs and Conditions<\/strong><\/h5>\n

The environment of the facility can also be adjusted to test the robots under both hot and cold conditions, analyzing how the oxygen levels change when goods are stacked in storage systems. The hub also simulates earthquakes to see how storage and warehousing technology would respond to potentially harmful situations, as well as a range of other functions.<\/p>\n

“We recognized the need to test solutions in a variety of different situations, but we couldn’t establish a testing center for cold environments, one for heat, and at the same time one for a modern store solution, one for medical storage, and so on. That\u2019s why we set up a center where we can simulate different situations and needs. This agile approach provides our customers with a competitive advantage in the market and places them at the center of new innovations in the industry that they can drive forward,” Lier comments.<\/p>\n
