The Cargoclix Dr. Meier & Schmidt GmbH has installed the time slot management system SLOT at Meyer Vegetable Processing GmbH in Twistringen. The supplier of frozen vegetables and fruits has significantly reduced waiting times for truck drivers through the introduction of the cloud-based solution. This means a smoother delivery process and thus improved personnel planning.<\/p>\n

(Freiburg\/Twistringen) The company Meyer Vegetable Processing, an expert in the production of frozen vegetables and fruits, has implemented the time slot management system SLOT from Cargoclix at its headquarters in Twistringen, Lower Saxony. The cloud-based solution from the Freiburg system house now supports the daily, congestion-free processing of truck loads as well as palletized and non-palletized containers. Since the introduction of the system a few weeks ago, around 1,200 bookings have already been made through the time slot management system. Initial successes were quickly realized: “While waiting times for truck drivers at the ramp used to be up to three hours, we can now achieve precise timing with Cargoclix SLOT,” reports Christian St\u00fchrmann, head of the frozen goods warehouse.<\/p>\n

Personnel planning for the unloading of containers has also become easier with the time slot management system. “Especially the peak times on Monday mornings have been significantly smoothed out,” says St\u00fchrmann. In his opinion, further advantages include the clear representation of the scheduled containers and trucks, the ability to plan container personnel capacities in advance, and the adjustment of goods flows and volumes distributed across the personnel capacity in shift operations.<\/p>\n

Already 70 percent of customers use the system<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Anyone wishing to book a time slot for the delivery or pickup of non-palletized containers at Meyer Vegetable Processing can do so with a lead time of 50 days. Spontaneous bookings are possible until 4 PM the day before. The booking period for truck deliveries starts with a lead time of 14 days and ends two hours before the desired appointment. Already 70 percent of customers have used the system in recent weeks, even though the company initially relies on voluntary participation in using the system. Nevertheless, there are clear rules: “Those who have booked a time slot will be processed with priority; those who come without a booking must wait in line,” says Christian St\u00fchrmann. However, he adds that the intervals are currently designed in such a way that unannounced deliveries can still be processed in between.<\/p>\n

No advance project costs<\/strong><\/h5>\n

The booking costs of 50 cents per time slot are borne by the companies that book the time slots \u2013 customers who store their goods at Meyer Vegetable Processing book their own time slots and pay for them as well. The situation is different in purchasing. Here, the company partially handles the bookings itself and also covers the costs. “We are currently considering implementing the system in outgoing goods as well,” St\u00fchrmann continues.<\/p>\n

The decision to choose Cargoclix SLOT as the time slot management system is partly justified by Meyer Vegetable Processing with the fact that the system was already known to some suppliers and freight forwarders. Other aspects include the intuitive operability, references from other customers, and the fact that no advance project costs are incurred during implementation.<\/p>\n
