Six direct connections in both directions each week save up to 5,000 tons of CO2 emissions annually. The service will commence on January 10, 2022.<\/h5>\n<p>(Osnabr\u00fcck, January 6, 2022) Good news for the new year: TFG Transfracht and the terminal operator Container Terminal Osnabr\u00fcck (CTOS) will offer six weekly direct connections between the Osnabr\u00fcck economic region and Hamburg by rail starting January 10. By utilizing TFG<em>eco train<\/em>, the rail transports are 100 percent CO<sub>2<\/sub>-free, powered entirely by green electricity. The operations at the Osnabr\u00fcck terminal are also powered by 100 percent green electricity. The partners aim to provide customers with environmentally friendly transport solutions to encourage the shift from road to rail.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are very pleased to expand our offering of short-sea feeders with the connection to Osnabr\u00fcck and to meet the growing demand for climate-friendly transport solutions. With the expansion of rail transport, we are providing a real alternative to road transport. This way, we are shifting an additional 30,000 TEU from road to rail in the region, achieving a reduction of up to 5,000 tons of CO<sub>2<\/sub> emissions annually for our climate,&#8221; explains Frank Gedat, Head of Regional Division North East at TFG Transfracht.<\/p>\n<h5><strong>An Important Building Block for Environmentally Friendly Connections<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>&#8220;With the six new connections from TFG, we are gaining another important building block for attractive and environmentally friendly intermodal connections in the region,&#8221; emphasizes Bj\u00f6rn Tiemann, Managing Director of Container Terminal Osnabr\u00fcck. The new hub for combined transport has been established since spring 2020 on a 9.5-hectare former barracks site at the Osnabr\u00fcck port area and has a parking capacity of 2,000 TEU.
