Arvato Supply Chain Solutions has opened a new logistics center in Parla, about 20 kilometers south of Madrid. In the 25,000 square meter facility, the internationally operating supply chain and e-commerce service provider will now take over the complete logistics and fulfillment for the online business of a major company in the fashion industry.<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n

(G\u00fctersloh\/Madrid) “The new business at the Parla location confirms our strategy to grow with a focus on e-commerce and customer-oriented sectors,” says Emilio Juaranz, Managing Director of Arvato Supply Chain Solutions in Spain. “The Spanish market is a market with great potential, in which we want to further engage in the future.” At the same time, Spain is an important part of Arvato’s international network. In addition to Parla, the company already operates two other locations in Alcal\u00e1-de-Henares with a total of around 28,000 square meters of warehouse space. Emilio Juaranz: “Arvato’s general goal is to continue expanding the global network of locations to provide customers with scalable infrastructures and high flexibility. This way, we can support them in their growth in their target markets and enable them to quickly access new markets.” In 2021, investments were also made in the network \u2013 currently, several projects with a total of more than 250,000 square meters of logistics space are being implemented worldwide.<\/p>\n

The distribution center in Parla is also part of this strategy. The new building was constructed by Montepino Log\u00edstica, one of the leading developers and asset managers of logistics properties in Spain. The modern building has a height of eleven meters and is equipped with 25 loading docks for efficient goods in- and outflow. With its location in the Madrid metropolitan area, proximity to major transport hubs, and connection to the A-42 motorway, which connects Madrid with Toledo, the site meets all the requirements for the fast distribution of orders demanded in the booming online trade.<\/span><\/p>\n

600 New Employees<\/span><\/b><\/h4>\n

“In the new logistics center, we will employ around 600 new employees on average annually, who will ensure a 24\/7 operation in three shifts,” emphasizes Emilio Juaranz the importance of the location for the region. “This number can increase during peak times with particularly high shipping volumes, for example on Black Friday or during the Christmas season, to up to 1,000 employees.” For the well-being during breaks, the developer has equipped the property with a covered break area for employees, which is connected to a large outdoor terrace.<\/span><\/p>\n

In terms of sustainability, the distribution center also sets standards. It was built by Montepino Log\u00edstica according to the highest quality, sustainability, and efficiency standards and is to be certified according to the Gold Standard of the LEED (“Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design”) classification system, which is awarded by the US Green Building Council for sustainable buildings.<\/span><\/p>\n
