On the Day of Logistics in Germany (April 15, 2021), an initiative of the Federal Association of Logistics (BVL), participants can explore the third largest economic sector in Germany. It can also be noted that logistics is one of the drivers of digital innovations. As early as the 1970s, the first steps towards the automation of processes began.<\/p>\n

(Bremen) In logistics and supply chain management, digital technology has long been a focus. From computers that calculated routes in many freight forwarding companies in the 1970s, to barcode scanners for faster capture of shipment data in the 1980s, to fully connected and transparent supply chains using algorithms, artificial intelligence, drones, exoskeletons, or data glasses, as we experience today: logistics is one of the drivers of digital innovation, and it must be. Customer requirements are constantly changing, and with them, expectations are rising, not only in the delivery of packages but also in production logistics and the associated processes and interfaces.<\/p>\n

According to studies, digitized companies are better able to cope with crises, which is particularly relevant in logistics, as it ultimately supplies society and the economy. For the year 2020, experts estimate a total output of 268 billion euros, making logistics the third largest economic sector in Germany. More than 3 million people are employed in logistics and supply chain management.<\/p>\n

Pretty sure only online events<\/strong><\/h5>\n

On April 15, the annual action day “Day of Logistics” offers the interested public the opportunity to gain insight into the processes and technologies in logistics through free events. Whether it will be possible to actually open the doors and welcome visitors is questionable given the pandemic situation. However, digitalization also offers new possibilities with webinars, video conferences, live streams, vlogs, blogs, photos, and much more.<\/p>\n

Thus, companies and organizations are using the action day despite the pandemic to promote greater acceptance among neighbors and politics, strengthen customer and employee contacts, or address potential new employees: Those interested can easily and live online see what logistical work, functions, and processes they trigger in daily life, what role digitalization plays in this, and what career opportunities may arise.<\/p>\n

Diverse program<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Anyone who wants to learn more about the functions of logistics and supply chain management can choose an event from the offerings at www.tag-der-logistik.de\/veranstaltungen and register for free. The current program includes topics such as artificial intelligence, the future of work in logistics, automation, video technologies, or sustainability. More events will be added in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n

Companies that do not wish to hold an event can intensify their press work on this day, draw attention to logistics with actions on their websites, or be active on social media. In this way, the topics of the logistics economic sector are jointly presented to the public.<\/p>\n
