DHL Express has kicked off construction for its latest location in Neu-Ulm. The total investment volume for the facility amounts to 17 million euros. Overall, DHL Express is investing 160 million euros in five new construction projects by 2033, enabling capacity increases and operational growth.<\/p>\n

(Bonn\/Neu-Ulm) DHL Express continues to invest consistently in its locations in Germany. The infrastructure program of the German express network includes a total investment volume of 160 million euros for five new construction projects from 2020 to 2023.<\/p>\n

The official construction start for the latest project in Neu-Ulm is today. In Albrecht-Berblinger-Stra\u00dfe, operational and office spaces of more than 3,500 m\u00b2 will be created on a total area of 13,500 m\u00b2. The project developer is Europastra\u00dfe NU Projekt GmbH from Lenggries. Currently, preparatory construction measures are underway for the new building. The investment volume for the new DHL Express location amounts to a total of 17 million euros. Relocation and commissioning are planned for spring 2022.<\/p>\n

State-of-the-art technology doubles capacities<\/strong><\/h5>\n

“We continue to invest consistently in our network in Germany,” says Markus Reckling, Managing Director of DHL Express Germany. “By using state-of-the-art technology, we will double the capacities of our previous location with the new building. The ongoing effects of globalization and digitalization have significantly increased customer demand for international express services, which received an additional boost from the impacts of nationwide shutdowns. The new investments enable us to achieve organic growth, allowing us to connect our customers in the region even better with our global network.” DHL Express is well-prepared for the projected growth in the region in the coming years with the new building.<\/p>\n

The new facility will feature two so-called PUD fingers (“Pick-up and Delivery”) with direct loading and unloading options for 72 delivery vehicles simultaneously. Additionally, it will have a state-of-the-art sorting facility designed for a shipment volume of 3,000 packages per hour, through which all national and international DHL Express shipments will be processed quickly and efficiently. “We achieve shorter processing time windows in shipment handling and significantly improved processes through operational innovations,” Reckling adds.<\/p>\n

Employees benefit from state-of-the-art infrastructure<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Moreover, employees at the new location, which is only three kilometers from the previous site, will benefit from ergonomic workspaces in the office and in the hall, as well as modern-equipped social areas. Furthermore, emphasis will be placed on the use of energy-saving materials, and the latest LED technology will be used for the entire hall lighting. Additionally, the location will soon be equipped with a photovoltaic system for the daily operation of the station. The new DHL Express station will also meet the security requirements of the Transported Asset Protection Association (TAPA) and thus receive the internationally recognized TAPA Class A certification as the highest security level in air transport.<\/p>\n

Last year, DHL Express Germany announced a very special construction project with the new building at Munich Airport. The new DHL Express location with direct airside access will be six times larger than the previous one. The investment volume amounts to 70 million euros. Despite the pandemic, the new buildings in Bielefeld (17 million euros) and Berlin (31 million euros) went online on schedule in 2020. The opening of the new location in Dortmund, with an investment volume of 25 million euros, is planned for autumn 2021.<\/p>\n
