The L\u00fcbeck Port Company (LHG) appoints Ortwin Harms as the second managing director effective April 1, 2021. The previous sole managing director, Sebastian J\u00fcrgens, will simultaneously become the spokesperson. Harms will focus on personnel strategy and collective bargaining policy.<\/p>\n

(L\u00fcbeck) The supervisory board of the L\u00fcbeck Port Company (LHG) recommended in its meeting today that Ortwin Harms (62) be appointed as the second managing director of the company effective April 1, 2021. Sebastian J\u00fcrgens, the previous sole managing director, will simultaneously become the spokesperson for the management.<\/p>\n

“I am pleased that the supervisory board has followed my recommendation and strengthened the management. The consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic pose a particular challenge for the LHG during the ongoing restructuring. Personnel strategy and collective bargaining policy are crucial for the future of the LHG. With Prof. Dr. J\u00fcrgens and Ortwin Harms, we have two leaders who will align the LHG for the future,” said Mayor Jan Lindenau as the main representative of the shareholders of LHG.<\/p>\n

30 years in the company<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Harms will focus on personnel strategy and collective bargaining policy in addition to his previous responsibilities for marketing and sales. These two areas are of particular importance for the company in light of the ongoing future security plan. Under J\u00fcrgens’ department are the areas of operations, technology, finance, and digitalization, as well as the strategic restructuring of the LHG.<\/p>\n

Harms, a captain with a deep-sea license, has many years of extensive experience in the company. He joined the LHG about 30 years ago and initially worked at the quay as a “shed foreman.” In 1996, he took over the management of the Constinkai and later the Nordlandkai. In 2009, Harms moved to the company’s headquarters and has since been responsible for the “Marketing and Sales” area. In this capacity, he is already part of the company’s management and regularly represents J\u00fcrgens.<\/p>\n

About LHG<\/strong><\/p>\n

The L\u00fcbeck Port Company GmbH is Germany’s largest RoRo port operator in the Baltic Sea. Its four port terminals offer high-frequency sea traffic in the Baltic region. The cargo units are consolidated and connected to the hinterland through efficient systems. The LHG is a reliable partner for the forestry products and automotive industries.<\/p>\n
