The intralogistics provider TGW from Marchtrenk, Austria, hands over a distribution center to the Spanish children’s fashion specialist Mayoral. A TGW pocket sorter ensures maximum flexibility and reduces costs. In this project, collaborative partnership was a key success factor. With the omnichannel facility, Mayoral is ready for the needs of the fashion market.<\/p>\n

(Marchtrenk) Recently, TGW successfully completed the implementation phase and handed over a highly automated fulfillment center to Mayoral. The Spanish fashion specialist was founded over 75 years ago and is now one of the leading international manufacturers of children’s clothing. The company designs around 3,000 garments annually and sells 30 million items to more than 10,000 customers. A TGW pocket sorter is used in the modern logistics hub in southern Spain, M\u00e1laga.<\/p>\n

The omnichannel solution is based on a TGW pocket sorter system with a throughput capacity of 12,000 units per hour. The pocket sorter is used for the consolidation and sorting of flat and hanging goods. The solution also includes two shuttle systems \u2013 one for storage and the other as a buffer before shipping.<\/p>\n

Powerful intralogistics as a competitive advantage<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Mayoral benefits from increased flexibility with the 20,000 m\u00b2 facility, is optimally equipped for the demands of e-commerce, can reduce its total cost of ownership, and thus lays the foundation for further growth.<\/p>\n

“With the new fulfillment center, we can quickly and flexibly adapt to the changing needs of the market and benefit from a competitive advantage,” emphasizes Salvador Garc\u00eda De-Lucchi, Technical Director at Mayoral. The completed implementation marks the starting point for a second project phase. This will expand storage capacity and the number of packing workstations to cover the exponential growth rate in the online fashion sector.<\/p>\n

Collaborative partnership<\/strong><\/h5>\n

The success of the project is the result of the close collaboration between Mayoral and TGW. With the omnichannel facility and its high throughput capacity, the children’s fashion specialist is prepared for both current and future needs of the fashion market.<\/p>\n

“The omnichannel solution developed by TGW supports Mayoral in transforming its supply chain. The customer appreciates the ability to transport flat and hanging goods fully automatically in parallel and to use the facility simultaneously as a storage or buffer system. This prepares Mayoral for the future and relies on TGW’s expertise for further automation steps,” emphasizes David Bendien, CEO of TGW South Europe.<\/p>\n
