The logistics service provider GROUP7 AG transforms customs expertise into freight volumes and achieved a revenue increase of 41 percent in January for truck traffic between Germany and Great Britain compared to the same month last year. The months of preparation for Brexit paid off here.<\/p>\n

(Munich) In January, logistics service provider GROUP7 recorded a revenue increase of 40 percent in truck traffic between Germany and the UK compared to the previous year. “This significant increase exceeds our expectations,” says G\u00fcnther Jocher, GROUP7 board member. In the wake of the Brexit negotiations, the logistics provider continuously prepared its customers for the impacts of the UK’s exit from the EU for months. GROUP7 has been operating UK traffic since the company’s founding in 2006. Board member G\u00fcnther Jocher brings an additional 20 years of expertise from his previous role as managing director.<\/p>\n

Daily Groupage Traffic Without Brexit Interruptions<\/strong><\/h5>\n

“All our customers were already familiar with the new formalities, such as correctly preparing export documents, before the Brexit deal was finalized. After the negotiations were concluded, we only had to adjust a few details,” Jocher continues. “This allowed us to offer our groupage traffic in its daily frequency without interruptions,” adds Tim Holtkamp, sales manager at GROUP7. The groupage traffic from Germany to the UK starts daily from all branches. In addition to parcel shipments, GROUP7 employees also organize partial and full loads to and from Great Britain.<\/p>\n

Pre-Lodgement Procedure for No-Stop in Dover<\/strong><\/h5>\n

To ensure that trucks do not come to a standstill at the port of Dover, GROUP7 applies the pre-lodgement procedure. This involves electronically transmitting the required customs documents in advance to prepare for customs clearance. This allows trucks to enter the UK smoothly. Preparatory work was also necessary on the part of the English recipients for the new procedures. Local contacts were available for consultation for British recipients. GROUP7 primarily operates in the B2B sector for companies in the automotive, textiles, and consumer goods industries. The logistics provider from Munich offers end-to-end solutions and also handles a significant amount of B2C business for its customers.<\/p>\n

Brexit Deal with Further Hurdles for the Shipping Industry<\/strong><\/h5>\n

“The need for explanation regarding export and import formalities remains high among our new customers. Phrases like ‘duty-free access to markets’ lead some customers in the shipping industry to hope that there are still EU-like import regulations. Instead, customs clearance is now required as if it were a third country,” Holtkamp concludes.<\/p>\n
