The electronics specialist Weidm\u00fcller GmbH & Co. KG, headquartered in Detmold, is making the largest single investment in the company’s history by building a new logistics center near its Thuringian branch in Wutha-Farnroda. This sharpens Weidm\u00fcller’s logistics profile and improves customer service.<\/p>\n

(Detmold) With the largest single investment in the company’s history, the signs are pointing to growth for the Detmold electronics specialist Weidm\u00fcller: A new logistics center is being built on a plot of over 72,000 square meters near Eisenach. Construction has been underway since autumn 2020, with completion planned for 2022. With this investment in the double-digit millions, the family-owned company is setting the course for further growth and enhanced customer service in the shipping sector.<\/p>\n

Pioneering for Innovative Logistics<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Just ten kilometers from the site of Thuringian Weidm\u00fcller GmbH (TWG), with optimal access to the plant itself, the highway, and short distances to the two most important German freight airports in Frankfurt and Leipzig, Weidm\u00fcller is sharpening its logistics profile. The new building will serve as the foundation for a pioneering and innovative logistics system and is an investment in the location Germany.<\/p>\n

The new logistics center, operating under the project title “NGL” (Next Generation Logistics), will be the global hub for all products from the factories in Germany, Romania, and the Czech Republic. “We are in a growth industry and provide innovative technologies and products that are crucial for the availability of machines, systems, and infrastructures,” explains Sales Director Dr. Timo Berger. “To meet the increasing dynamics of our markets, we must continue to optimize all supply chains. Digitalization and networking play an important role in this. With a new logistics concept, we can implement these requirements – from the shipping of our suppliers to the incoming goods of our customers – in a targeted and optimal manner.”<\/p>\n

Delaying the Construction Project Was Not an Option<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Despite the pandemic and uncertainty in 2020, delaying this construction project was not an option. “We must think more than ever about the time after the crisis and the incoming changes and align our actions accordingly,” Berger continues. As a medium-sized family business, Weidm\u00fcller plans the development of the company in the long term. “Only in this way can we remain efficient and be a reliable partner for our customers. This includes becoming faster, more flexible, and better in our delivery and customer service.”<\/p>\n

The construction is also necessary to enable further growth at the Thuringian plant. “The upward trend that we were already able to recognize in the fourth quarter of last year is continuing, which is why the first business figures for 2021 are extremely promising,” says Berger. “We look optimistically at the coming months, hope for rapid progress in containing the pandemic worldwide, and expect a positive development of our markets in the coming years.” The new logistics center is an important milestone for Weidm\u00fcller to meet future challenges.<\/p>\n
