Scannell Properties from the USA is developing a logistics property for Amazon in Teuschenthal near Halle an der Saale (Saxony-Anhalt). The project serves the last-mile logistics of the online retailer. The property covers approximately 6,400 m2. Earthworks began in early January 2021, and completion is planned for autumn 2021.<\/p>\n

(Teuschenthal) Scannell Properties, the American real estate development and investment company with branches in Europe, specializing in large-scale industrial and logistics projects, is developing a logistics property for the online retailer Amazon in Saxony-Anhalt.<\/p>\n

The logistics center for last-mile parcel delivery is being built in Teuschenthal near Halle (Saale). It is a build-to-suit development with approximately 4,600 sqm of hall space and 1,900 sqm of office and social space. The site is located in the industrial park of the municipality of Teutschenthal, about 15 minutes by car from the major city of Halle (Saale).<\/p>\n

Construction Begins in Mid-February<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Earthworks began in early January 2021, allowing construction to seamlessly commence in mid-February. Completion and commissioning are planned for autumn 2021.<\/p>\n

The property developer places particular emphasis on flexible equipment during execution. In addition, the construction project includes extensive measures for an environmentally friendly and low-emission operation of the property. Scannell Properties aims for the Gold Certificate from the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB), and the roof of the facility will also feature a photovoltaic system.<\/p>\n

Robert Viegers, Vice President of Amazon Logistics in Germany, comments on the development: “We are very pleased to open a distribution center in Teuschenthal, which incorporates more than 20 years of logistical expertise, technological advancement, and investments in transport infrastructure. This way, Amazon customers benefit from faster and more flexible delivery options.” <\/p>\n

The Politics Are Also Pleased<\/strong><\/h5>\n

The mayor, Tilo Eigendorf, is particularly pleased with the establishment of the online retailer: “It is a significant signal for our location and the region that a company like Amazon is settling here. The establishment of the logistics unit represents a milestone in the commercial development of our municipality.”<\/p>\n

Heiko Richter, Managing Director Germany of Scannell Properties, emphasizes the successful collaboration between all parties: “As an international project developer for commercial and logistics properties, our goal is to provide our international clients in Europe with the spaces needed for expansion.<\/p>\n

This benefits the local economy and the labor market. Successfully bringing together the requirements of all parties involved has also been excellently achieved in this project. My thanks go especially to the authorities and all partners during these times.”<\/p>\n
