Kombiverkehr KG shifts trains from Cologne to Duisburg, thereby connecting Spain in fast gateway traffic with Scandinavia, Poland, the Czech Republic, Austria, Benelux, and Leipzig. Today marks the first train departure heading south from Duisburg. More than 25 countries can already be reached from Duisburg.<\/p>\n

(Frankfurt\/Main) Kombiverkehr KG, the intermodal provider for Germany and Europe, has relocated the Spain trains on the Cologne \u2013 Bayonne \/ Ir\u00fan v.v. route from Cologne-Eifeltor to the DUSS terminal in Duisburg-Ruhrort Hafen. The operational adjustment of the services took place last weekend. Today, a train will depart from Duisburg for Spain on the northern route for the first time. This also provides the Kombiverkehr KG with a connection to the daily direct train Madrid \u2013 Ir\u00fan v.v. in the gateway traffic. There are feeder services from Madrid to Murcia, San Roque, Sevilla, Valencia, and Zaragoza.<\/p>\n

Direct Services via Major Hubs<\/strong><\/h5>\n

“With the shift from Cologne-Eifeltor to the Duisburg-Ruhrort Hafen DUSS terminal, we at Kombiverkehr are once again leveraging our advantage of efficiently connecting direct services via major hubs in our European network with a multitude of other terminal and economic locations in Germany and across Europe. With the shift to Duisburg, our Spain trains now connect to one of the five most important gateway terminals in our Kombiverkehr intermodal system. More than 25 countries can already be reached from Duisburg.<\/p>\n

This opens up entirely new transport alternatives for cargo volumes from Spain and southern France in a one-stop-shop process to and from Poland, the Czech Republic, Austria, Scandinavia, or Benelux,” says Alexander Ochs, Managing Director at Kombiverkehr KG. With this measure, the further transport by rail towards the Iberian Peninsula is also possible for international volumes from the Far East, which are increasingly arriving in the Ruhr metropolis and being distributed from there. “Moreover, logistics companies in domestic traffic benefit from a new direct connection to Leipzig or the unique, highly scheduled forwarding frequency to the Baltic Sea port of L\u00fcbeck, with now eleven train departures per week from Duisburg,” adds Peter Dannewitz, Head of Sales.<\/p>\n

P400 Still Between Barcelona and Ludwigshafen<\/strong><\/h5>\n

On the Atlantic route, containers and swap bodies with profile C45 or C364 can be transported. Customers with P400 trailers continue to use the existing connection between Barcelona Morrot and the Kombiterminal in Ludwigshafen for the climate-friendly transport of their goods in the Spain \u2013 Germany v.v. traffic. Kombiverkehr offers this route three times a week in a circular service.<\/p>\n

In cooperation with Combiberia and Novatrans, the Frankfurt operator today serves the Iberian Peninsula and the border region around Bayonne with 26 direct trains per week and direction in the Germany \u2013 Spain v.v. traffic. Via the Atlantic route and Mediterranean route, the Spanish terminals Madrid, Granollers, Barcelona, and Constanti near Tarragona are connected to Ludwigshafen and, in the future, Duisburg by direct train.<\/p>\n
