Lohmann & Rauscher (L&R), an internationally leading provider of medical and hygiene products, has commissioned Element Logic to establish a new AutoStore system with 11,578 container storage locations. The intralogistics expert Element Logic took on the planning and implementation of the automated storage and picking system AutoStore, including EWCS, under general contractor responsibility.<\/p>\n

(Bad Friedrichshall) L&R develops, produces, and distributes high-quality medical and hygiene products worldwide with a portfolio of over 16,000 product solutions. The corporate group was formed in 1998 from the merger of the two companies Lohmann and Rauscher, from which the two L&R locations with headquarters functions in Rengsdorf, Rhineland-Palatinate, and Vienna, Austria, are derived. The L&R team of more than 5,300 employees generated a revenue volume of over 670 million euros in 2019.<\/p>\n

Highly Efficient Storage and Picking Solution<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Since the merger, the company has experienced rapid and dynamic business development regarding international expansion, new companies and investments, revenue growth, and employee development. To optimize internal logistics and align with the growing market demands for ever-smaller order volumes, L&R decided to invest in an AutoStore system from Element Logic at the Neuwied-Block location. This highly efficient storage and picking solution was integrated into the existing 1,130 m\u00b2 warehouse to ensure optimal space utilization, thereby aiming for shorter order processing times.<\/p>\n

In the first expansion phase, L&R’s AutoStore system was established on an area of approximately 280 m\u00b2 and offers a capacity of about 10,000 containers. Ten AutoStore robots ensure fast and order-oriented goods provision at the two picking workstations as well as at the incoming goods workstation. The Element Logic software EWCS, connected to the customer’s own warehouse management system, takes over all operational planning and optimization routines. The facility was handed over to L&R in the 4th quarter of 2020. The realization time (time from order to go-live) was approximately 20 weeks.<\/p>\n
