Instead of Christmas gifts for customers, Torwegge GmbH donates to the children’s cancer project Fruchtalarm. The company transfers 2,500 euros to the Bielefeld organization. The intralogistics specialist sees social engagement as a sign of connection to the region.<\/p>\n

(Bielefeld) This year, Torwegge GmbH and Co. KG once again supports a charitable project for Christmas. The donation of 2,500 euros from the intralogistics specialist goes for the fourth consecutive time to the children’s cancer project “Fruchtalarm” of the Laer Foundation. As part of the project, volunteers visit 31 children’s cancer wards nationwide once a week with a mobile children’s cocktail bar to provide the seriously ill children and adolescents with a change from their clinic routine dictated by radiation and chemotherapy. With this commitment, Torwegge takes on social responsibility while also expressing its connection to its hometown Bielefeld.<\/p>\n

Social Engagement for Ten Years<\/strong><\/h5>\n

“For us, social engagement and social responsibility are on par with economic success. That\u2019s why we are once again forgoing Christmas gifts for our customers this year and instead donating for a good cause,” says Uwe Eschment, Managing Director of Torwegge GmbH and Co. KG. The family-owned company has been supporting charitable institutions and projects for over ten years. As in the past three years, this time the choice fell on the project “Fruchtalarm” of the Laer Foundation, which brings joy to children with cancer and promotes their health.<\/p>\n

With Children’s Cocktail Bar Through Cancer Wards in Germany<\/strong><\/h5>\n

For ten years now, a mobile children’s cocktail bar has been rolling through the corridors of many children’s cancer wards in Germany every week. Together with volunteers, young patients mix colorful and flavorful fruit cocktails directly at their bedside according to their wishes from various juices, nectars, and syrups. The background of the action is that the children’s sense of taste and smell changes due to chemotherapy treatment. Eating and drinking becomes a tedious obligation. Therefore, the fruit cocktails are intended not only to activate the senses but also to increase the motivation to drink, as well as to promote activity, self-determination, and joy of life. What started very small has, according to its own statements, developed into the largest cross-clinic and purely donation-funded project in Germany. “We know that Fruchtalarm relies on regular support and that the money is in good hands there,” says Eschment.<\/p>\n
