Due to high customer demand, the Danish transport and logistics service provider DSV is expanding its warehouse capacity in Dresden by approximately 1,800 m\u00b2. With the modern hall construction, the former Panalpina location fills the gap in the region and offers new opportunities for local industries.<\/p>\n

(Bremen\/Dresden) Together, Managing Director Frank Sobotka, Finance Director Nicolai Knudsen, Sea Freight Manager Marcus Musiol, and Site Manager Kai Schw\u00e4rig ceremoniously opened the new logistics hall at the DSV location in Dresden. A significant utilization of the existing areas made the expansion necessary. “We are increasingly receiving customer inquiries from the region, which we can now meet due to the expansion. Specifically in the northern part of Dresden, the existing warehouse spaces do not cover the actual demand. We want to close this gap and thereby differentiate ourselves from the competition,” explains Kai Schw\u00e4rig.<\/p>\n

Strengthening the Region<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Before the expansion, the DSV Air & Sea Germany GmbH located there had 1,600 m\u00b2 of warehouse space, which has now been expanded to a total capacity of 3,400 m\u00b2 with the additional logistics hall. Managing Director Frank Sobotka stated: “We consciously chose to expand this location because we see the great potential. Dresden is growing \u2013 and with the increasing population, the economic performance in the region is also growing. We want to provide the necessary logistical environment for local companies and support them in optimizing their supply chains.” High safety standards, modern temperature control, and the extensive equipment of the new building enable the handling of various goods groups, such as those from the regional semiconductor industry. The location has the prerequisites to immediately forward urgent sea freight shipments as air freight or to commission and manage deliveries in its own high-bay warehouse. The transition between transport modes is also possible due to the connection to the DSV Road network, allowing all services to be centrally managed.<\/p>\n

Expansion of Services<\/strong><\/h5>\n

In addition to the storage and commissioning of goods, DSV in Dresden also handles the classic processing of air and sea freight shipments as well as courier services. Following the merger of Panalpina and DSV at the beginning of the year, the location was able to expand its portfolio with additional services such as DSV XPress. The courier service offers a selection of express shipping options that ensure goods reach their destination individually and as quickly as possible. DSV is represented in Germany with three divisions, which are divided into the business areas of air and sea freight (DSV Air & Sea), land transport (DSV Road), and contract logistics (DSV Solutions). On a global level, DSV is growing to become one of the largest transport and logistics companies with 55,000 employees in over 80 countries through the acquisition of Panalpina in August 2019.
