A performance pact for a strong rail system has been signed in Berlin by 28 partners in Germany for passenger and freight transport. A master plan for rail has been established. The aim is to double passenger numbers by 2030 and to achieve a rail share of 25 percent in freight transport.<\/p>\n

(Berlin) The DVF has today signed the rail pact together with other key institutions and associations. With this commitment, the association supports the path towards a high-performance and modern rail transport system in Germany.<\/p>\n

The signing of the rail pact by 28 partners documents the significant joint interest in the successful development of the rail sector. It is a commitment that rail transport will be the foundation for modern mobility in the future and can make a substantial contribution to achieving climate goals. For this purpose, users of passenger and freight transport have developed the master plan for rail transport in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Transport. Federal Minister of Transport Andreas Scheuer presented the results of the working groups of the Future Alliance Rail in the master plan for rail transport today. “We are pleased to be part of the rail pact, which heralds the beginning of a new era of rail transport in Germany,” said DVF Managing Director Dr. Heike van Hoorn.<\/p>\n

The Master Plan Must Now Be Implemented<\/h5>\n

Thanks to the initiative and leadership of State Secretary Enak Ferlemann MdB, the Future Alliance Rail was able to work so successfully. “The measures from the master plan must now actually be implemented. A key goal is to increase the attractiveness and modal split share of rail. Derived goals such as doubling passenger numbers by 2030, the Germany timetable, the digitization of rail, noise reduction, and increasing the rail freight share to 25 percent require reliable and sufficient investments. This demands a strong will from all parties involved for the expansion of infrastructure, modernization of technology, and promotion of innovations over many years,” Dr. van Hoorn emphasized. The DVF leader also stressed the importance of keeping the rail sector attractive through good and exciting job opportunities for qualified professionals.<\/p>\n

The progress of the tasks from the master plan will be reviewed in regular evaluations. For this purpose, the members of the master plan will meet at an annual future conference.<\/p>\n
