Lufthansa Cargo brought eight million protective masks from Shanghai to Munich. A Boeing 777F was used for this purpose. It was personally received at the airport by Bavaria’s Prime Minister Dr. Markus S\u00f6der and Federal Minister of Transport Andreas Scheuer.<\/p>\n

(Munich, 07.04.2020) On Tuesday afternoon, a cargo plane from Lufthansa Cargo landed in Munich with eight million protective masks on board. The Boeing 777F, named “Ol\u00e1 Brazil,” took off from Shanghai in the morning. After a short stopover in the South Korean capital Seoul, the aircraft continued to Munich, landing punctually at 5:50 PM.<\/p>\n

Bavarian Prime Minister Dr. Markus S\u00f6der, Federal Minister of Transport Andreas Scheuer, and the CEO of Deutsche Lufthansa AG, Carsten Spohr, personally received the aircraft.<\/p>\n

The eight million masks are packed in a total of 4000 boxes, weighing a combined 26 tons. The shipment was transported on behalf of the Bavarian State Government by Lufthansa Cargo in collaboration with the logistics company Fiege.<\/p>\n

“The cooperation with Bavaria and partners like Lufthansa for the rapid procurement of protective equipment is excellent. All processes are perfectly coordinated. This is logistics, assignment, decision, reliability – it fits,” said Federal Minister of Transport Andreas Scheuer.<\/p>\n

“Right now, cargo flights are of enormous importance for medical facilities as well as for craftsmen and large corporations. We are doing everything we can to maintain supply chains during this crisis and ensure the supply of people. This is an important part of our corporate responsibility as a leading European aviation group,” said Carsten Spohr, CEO of Deutsche Lufthansa AG.<\/p>\n

Currently, all 17 cargo planes of Lufthansa Cargo are in continuous operation to fly urgently needed goods, such as medical supplies, around the world and to Germany. In addition to regular cargo flights, there are 25 special flights this week with Lufthansa passenger aircraft being used solely as freighters. In the coming week, 60 more cargo flights with passenger planes are planned.<\/p>\n
