Lufthansa Cargo, in collaboration with WiseTech Global and IBS Software, has successfully implemented the new data standard „ONE Record“ from the International Air Transport Association (IATA). This initiative enables a more efficient exchange of shipment data in air freight transport and represents one of the first large-scale implementations of the standard. ONE Record was introduced in January 2026 to promote a transparent and straightforward data exchange within a digital ecosystem of the air freight industry.
The implementation of the standard is the result of several years of collaboration among the three companies. Lufthansa Cargo has taken on the role of the cargo airline, while WiseTech Global acts as the system provider for many freight forwarders, and IBS Software supplies the systems for Lufthansa Cargo. This cooperation aims to advance the digital transformation in the air freight sector by improving the exchange and processing of shipment data among various stakeholders.
Advantages of the new standard
A key advantage of ONE Record is the ability to verify and process freight data in the internal systems of companies before transport. This increases transparency throughout the entire transport chain and enables proactive management of shipments. The first use cases presented by the partners include the processing of data from Master Air Waybills. This data is generated in WiseTech’s CargoWise platform and captured in Lufthansa Cargo’s system via the IBS ONE Record server.
Dr. Jasmin Kaiser, Head of Information Management & Chief Data Officer at Lufthansa Cargo, emphasizes the significance of the new standard for the industry: „We are proud to have contributed to another important digitalization project in the air freight sector with our expertise and experience—together with our strong partners from IBS Software and WiseTech Global.“ She highlights that seamless data exchange forms the foundation for the introduction of further digital solutions and AI-driven services.
Elias Hatzigeorgiou, Senior Product Manager at WiseTech Global, adds: „This success demonstrates what is possible when industry leaders work together on a digital vision.“ He points out that ONE Record replaces fragmented communication channels and enables new dimensions of transparency and efficiency in the air freight sector.

ONE Record defines a common data model for the exchange of freight data through a standardized and secure API. The standard is offered as a free open-source solution and is continuously developed. Companies can connect their IT systems to ONE Record via the API to track shipment data or make corrections as needed.
