With approximately 10,500 employees at 130 locations, the company has been a member of TOB since 2019. The Bochum location, one of the most modern within the Nagel-Group logistics network, plays a central role in supplying the Ruhr area with food. Daily, several million people are served from this site.
Innovative Infrastructure for Crisis Situations
During the visit, the importance of stable and well-connected logistics chains for supply in crisis situations was emphasized. The Bochum location is equipped with a photovoltaic system, large battery capacities, its own workshop with spare parts storage, as well as a gas station and electric charging infrastructure. These features contribute to the resilience of the site and demonstrate the company’s innovative strength.
Christian Hoffmann emphasized the role of Nagel-Group as an indispensable partner within TOB: “Nagel-Group Logistics SE has been a TOB member from the very beginning and, with its expertise and specialized skills, is an irreplaceable partner in the network. The exchange at the Bochum location has once again underscored this.”
Jens Kleiner highlighted the necessity of close collaboration among all stakeholders to ensure supply security: “Supply security can only be achieved through close cooperation among all parties involved. The Federal Transport Organization creates a strong network for this purpose, into which we are happy to contribute our logistical expertise and many years of experience.”
TOB includes over 1,200 transport and logistics companies that possess extensive expertise in various transport sectors. This organization has established itself as a successful model and is being further developed as a tool for crisis preparedness and strengthening supply security in Germany. BALM serves as the central point of contact for TOB companies and plans to intensify the exchange on logistical processes through joint crisis staff exercises and specialized working groups. Professional congresses are also intended to further promote the networking of companies.
