Mar 25, 2026 at 11:05 AMcargo-partner has renewed its collaboration with HHLA Pure in the field of climate-neutral rail transport in Central Europe for the third consecutive year. This partnership has enabled the company to significantly increase the volume of climate-neutral transports. The achieved emission savings correspond to the amount of CO₂ absorbed by over 24,500 trees annually. Thus, cargo-partner reaffirms its commitment to environmentally conscious logistics solutions.
The company, which is part of Nippon Express Holding, Inc., continues to pursue its sustainability goals and utilizes the HHLA Pure initiative, launched by Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) and Metrans. The program enables CO₂-free container transport through the use of energy-efficient rail systems and electrified terminal processes. Remaining residual emissions are offset through Gold Standard-certified climate protection projects.
Luca Ferrara, CEO of cargo-partner, stated: “We leverage our partnership with HHLA Pure to offer our customers proactive and environmentally conscious transport solutions that help reduce the CO₂ footprint of their shipments. We actively lower transport emissions and offset unavoidable residual emissions through certified third-party projects.”
Results in Central Europe
In 2025, cargo-partner transported a total of 13,349 TEU climate-neutrally in the three participating countries. In Hungary, the national subsidiary led in sustainable transport with 6,140 TEU, resulting in estimated emission savings of 407.5 t CO₂ – an amount equivalent to the CO₂ absorption of more than 18,300 mature trees within a year. In Slovakia, 3,678 TEU were handled through the HHLA Pure program, leading to estimated emission savings of around 71.6 t CO₂, which corresponds to the amount absorbed by over 3,200 mature trees per year. In the Czech Republic, cargo-partner recorded a climate-neutral volume of 3,531 TEU, resulting in estimated savings of 66.7 t CO₂, comparable to the annual CO₂ absorption of 3,000 mature trees.
These results illustrate the successful implementation of low-emission transport corridors for onward transport by rail from significant European hubs. cargo-partner benefits from strategic assets such as the warehouse in Dunajská Streda, which is directly connected to the Metrans container terminal. This creates advantages for customers while simultaneously promoting environmentally friendly transport solutions.
Comprehensive Sustainability Strategy
In addition to the HHLA Pure initiative, cargo-partner is also committed to a variety of other sustainability projects. The company actively offers insetting solutions such as Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), modernizes its locations, and optimizes resource consumption across its network. This ensures that the warehouse locations meet the latest environmental requirements for sustainable logistics. The renewed collaboration with HHLA Pure underscores cargo-partner’s proactive approach to sustainability and its clear commitment to environmentally conscious transport solutions.
