Austrian Post expands logistics center
Mar 19, 2026 at 2:24 PMHapag-Lloyd and the government of India have signed a memorandum of understanding to strengthen maritime cooperation. The aim is to further develop the shipping and logistics sector as well as to improve global connectivity.
The agreement includes the potential reflagging of up to four vessels under the Indian flag. Details regarding the timeline, ship types or capacities are still pending and depend on further assessments, as well as the regulatory conditions.
Additionally, collaboration is planned to establish a sustainable ship recycling system. This is intended to expand recycling capacities and align them with international environmental and safety standards.
Another focus is on the development of the Vadhavan port. In cooperation with the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority, opportunities for investments and the transfer of know-how are being explored to strengthen the infrastructure.
