Bidfood invests in environmentally friendly cooling systems
Mar 18, 2026 at 2:58 PMThe parcel services GLS and DPD today introduced their new joint brand „inboxx,“ which represents an open network of parcel stations. This initiative aims to facilitate the pickup and delivery of packages for customers and promote the use of parcel stations and parcel shops.
With the goal of establishing one of the largest open Out of Home networks in Germany by the end of 2027, the two companies plan to create a total of 20,000 jointly usable Out of Home points. This includes up to 6,000 parcel stations that are intended to provide customers with flexible handling for sending and receiving their packages. Currently, GLS and DPD already have around 10,000 parcel shops that can be used by customers of both services.
A new infrastructure model for the parcel market
The new brand is intended to represent a provider-open network that benefits not only senders and recipients but also, in the long term, allows other parcel services and retail partners access to a powerful infrastructure. „This is how we establish an infrastructure model in the German parcel market that is open in access and consistently thought from a partner perspective,“ explains Jascha Waffender, Director Out of Home at GLS Germany.
The launch of „inboxx“ will be supported by a branding campaign in Berlin that runs until the end of March 2026. The campaign includes large-format advertising spaces as well as digital displays at key traffic points and public transport stations. This aims to position the offering as an integral part of modern urban logistics.
Michael Knaupe, Chief Customer Experience & Business Development Officer at DPD Germany, emphasizes: „We are creating an ecosystem that makes our service even more convenient and flexible for all customers.“ The brand is intended to enable packages to be picked up and sent in a way that best suits the users.
The partnership between GLS and DPD is further strengthened by the introduction of „inboxx“ and is expected to contribute to increasing efficiency in parcel shipping. In the coming years, the network of parcel stations and shops is expected to grow continuously to meet customer needs.
