Digital solutions for air freight processes
Jan 30, 2026 at 10:29 AMThe L.I.T. Speditions GmbH, a company of the internationally active L.I.T. Group, is intensifying its transport activities between the European mainland and the United Kingdom. With a clear focus on land and sea transport, the company aims to strengthen its position as a partner for UK transports and particularly expand its competencies in the megatrailer segment as well as in intermodal transport.
Planned Expansions and Existing Routes
The main transport corridors extend from Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, and Italy to the UK and vice versa. For the year 2026, the L.I.T. Group also plans to expand its network between Scandinavia and the United Kingdom. Currently, the focus is on the connections Germany – UK and Netherlands – UK. From Rotterdam, the company utilizes established ferry connections to British ports such as Purfleet, Tilbury, Immingham, Harwich, and Felixstowe. Additionally, train connections through the Eurotunnel and ferry routes to Dover are offered from Calais.
Simeon Breuer, Managing Director of L.I.T. Speditions GmbH, emphasizes: “The targeted expansion of our UK activities is a central component of our international growth strategy. Through efficient corridors, our own capacities, and a strong network, we provide our customers with stable transit times, high flexibility, and reliable solutions from a single source, especially for time-sensitive and high-volume transports.”
Acquisitions to Strengthen Market Position
As of January 1, 2026, the L.I.T. Group will acquire the Dutch freight forwarder Olof Mtt based in Klundert. The due diligence for this transaction was conducted by the consulting firm TransCare. Olof Mtt brings 440 megatrailers and established connections to the United Kingdom, which will strengthen the transport flows from Benelux and Germany, particularly from Southern Germany. The company will continue to operate as an independent brand and will take over the core brand for the Benelux/Germany – UK routes. In parallel, the L.I.T. Group plans to further expand the transport flows from Italy and Scandinavia towards the United Kingdom.
In 2024, the L.I.T. Group had already acquired the British company Sapphire International Transport Ltd. based in Dover. This acquisition enabled access to an additional fleet of specialized mega-trailers as well as extensive expertise in the fields of plastics, steel, paper, and recycling. Sapphire serves routes across Europe, with a particular focus on Western Europe, especially France and Spain.
Through the two acquisitions, the L.I.T. Group has significantly expanded its presence in the United Kingdom and strengthened its position as a provider of megatrailers. Currently, approximately 120 to 140 deliveries are made daily in the UK, with the main goods groups including automotive components as well as consumer goods such as paper, hygiene products, and household appliances. A total of around 750 trailers are in use for UK transports, of which 440 belong to the new group member Olof Mtt.
