Jan 23, 2026 at 11:00 AMContargo has expanded its fleet of battery-electric trucks by 33 new tractor units of the type „DAF XD Electric.“ The vehicles were manufactured in Eindhoven and are now in operation at 15 locations in Germany. With this expansion, the company achieves a significant milestone on its path to decarbonizing its transport fleet. In total, Contargo now operates 90 electric trucks, following the successful implementation of all projects promised under the „Klimaschutzinitiative“ (KsNI) funding, as the company reports.
Technical Details of the New Trucks
The new DAF XD Electric trucks are equipped with electric motors that provide a power output of 350 kW. The energy supply is provided by five lithium iron phosphate battery packs. This technology was deliberately chosen to avoid the use of cobalt and nickel, contributing to a longer lifespan and full charge capacity of the batteries, reports Kristin Kahl, Managing Director of Contargo Truck Fleet GmbH & Co. KG.
