Jan 13, 2026 at 8:00 AMThe Austrian Post AG has announced the complete acquisition of the Hungarian parcel service provider Delivery Solutions Zrt., which operates under the brand SAMEDAY Hungary. As part of the transaction, all employees will be taken over, with their employment contracts continuing without interruption. Additionally, existing customer contracts, including those with eMAG, one of the largest online retailers in Hungary, as well as the entire infrastructure of the company, will be acquired. This includes approximately 1,100 parcel stations, which will be integrated into Express One Hungary, a subsidiary of the Austrian Post. With this acquisition, Express One Hungary will double the number of its parcel stations in Hungary, significantly expanding its out-of-home network for parcel reception.
Strategic Expansion in Eastern Europe
The acquisition is subject to approval by the relevant antitrust authorities and for foreign direct investments. The exact purchase price has not been disclosed. Walter Oblin, CEO of the Austrian Post AG, commented on the acquisition, describing it as another step in the company’s growth strategy in Eastern Europe. Oblin emphasized that the acquisition of SAMEDAY Hungary will strengthen the market position of the Austrian Post in Hungary and create a solid foundation for future innovations and growth opportunities.
Peter Umundum, Deputy CEO and Board Member for Parcel & Logistics, added that the combination of the infrastructures of both companies will enable additional synergies. The construction of a logistics center by Express One Hungary in Budapest, as well as the expansion of the network of parcel stations, is expected to further solidify the position of the Austrian Post as an attractive parcel service provider in Hungary.
Lucian Baltaru, CEO of the SAMEDAY Group, described the acquisition as a logical step in the company’s development. He emphasized that this move will support the next phase of growth and strategically utilize the company’s resources to provide greater benefits to partners and customers. Baltaru expressed confidence that Express One Hungary and the Austrian Post will continue to pursue SAMEDAY’s vision of offering flexible and seamless courier services that integrate into people’s daily lives. Hungary was the first international market where SAMEDAY launched its own operations, and the experiences gained there have contributed to the company’s regional expansion.
