ÖBB expands freight connections in Europe

The handover took place at the Schneiderkrug location and coincides with the 50th anniversary of the family-owned company NORDFROST. These celebrations highlight the long-standing partnership between the two companies, which has existed for over 30 years.
Britta Bartels, owner of NORDFROST, commented on the handover: “We are pleased with the delivery of the 1,000th refrigerated trailer by Schmitz Cargobull as a reliable partner that meets our high demands for quality and flexibility. These aspects are crucial for us to offer optimal transport solutions to our customers in the food industry, wholesale and retail, as well as import and export across Europe.”
The collaboration between NORDFROST and Schmitz Cargobull began in the 1990s. Today, NORDFROST is a leading provider in the field of frozen logistics with 40 branches in Germany. The company relies on modern technology, including vehicles with dual evaporator cooling systems that enable transport in two temperature ranges. This technology is of great importance for flexibility and efficiency in temperature-controlled logistics.
Technological Advances in Refrigerated Transport Logistics
Frank Reppenhagen, Director Region Western Europe at Schmitz Cargobull, emphasized the importance of refrigerated trailers for logistics: “Every S.KO COOL refrigerated trailer is a building block for smooth refrigerated transport. The handover of the 1,000th refrigerated trailer to NORDFROST is a strong signal: NORDFROST relies on reliability, and Schmitz Cargobull provides the technology for it. NORDFROST offers comprehensive and tailored solutions in warehousing, transport, and port logistics, particularly for the food sector. Additionally, the company provides services for non-food, pharmaceuticals, and breakbulk at its port locations, as well as container services. With 2,300 employees and a capacity of around 1 million pallet spaces, NORDFROST operates a Europe-wide groupage transport network specializing in the distribution of frozen goods. The company is managed by Britta Bartels and the managing directors Philipp Brandstrup and Dennis Gloystein. NORDFROST was founded in 1975 by Horst Bartels and is fully family-owned.
