Oct 10, 2025 at 7:41 PMAfter intensive logistics planning, detailed analysis, and structured implementation, LOGSOL successfully completed the Depot Network Optimization Project (DNO Project) at VOLKSWAGEN GROUP Original Parts Logistics, Sales & Services GmbH (OTLG) in January 2025. LOGSOL supported OTLG in both strategic alignment and project management office (PMO) to ensure a future-proof distribution logistics.
(PresseBox: Dresden/Baunautal) In response to market changes and the upswing of electromobility, OTLG decided to undertake a comprehensive redesign of its logistics strategy. The goal of the DNO project was to develop the ideal supply concept for the coming years. This was intended to increase efficiency, maximize supply security, and create a future-proof infrastructure.
In this context, LOGSOL supported OTLG in two key areas:
- Strategic Logistics Consulting: Concept studies and feasibility analyses were developed to define an optimal structure for the future supply concept. Various scenarios were analyzed to make logistics processes more efficient and to develop sustainable solutions.
- Project Management Office (PMO): The central control and coordination of the project was carried out by a structured project management office (PMO). This ensured transparent planning, continuous monitoring of progress, and the establishment of clear communication channels.
Approach and Success Factors
To create a solid decision-making basis, various scenarios were analyzed and evaluated. The investigation focused on consolidation, automation, and customer service. Through comprehensive data analyses, site evaluations, and process optimizations, a sustainable and scalable logistics solution was developed that is not only efficient in the short term but also economically viable in the long term.
In parallel with the strategic analysis, the following central tasks were implemented as part of the PMO:
- Establishment of a clear organizational structure to ensure efficient communication and decision-making paths
- Detailed project planning and control using milestone plans, risk analyses, and cost monitoring
- Monitoring of project progress through regular status reports and coordination with all stakeholders
- Documentation and lessons learned to make the insights gained usable for future projects
A New Benchmark in Distribution Logistics
Thanks to the close collaboration of all parties involved and the professional management by the PMO, the project was successfully completed. The identified optimization measures were implemented, resulting in a more efficient and stable logistics structure.
The experiences gained from the project serve as a foundation for future transformation projects. With a clear strategy and professional project management, an important basis for the future of spare parts logistics has been established. OTLG sets a new standard in distribution logistics with this strategic realignment.
