TX Logistik Puts 40 Vectron Locomotives into Operation
Oct 8, 2024 at 7:46 PMGRIESHABER Logistik GmbH marks a milestone in logistics services with the topping-out ceremony for the new logistics center in Bad Saulgau, specifically developed for the agricultural machinery manufacturer CLAAS.
(Weingarten) The facility includes a logistics hall of nearly 16,000 sqm and an outdoor storage area of over 40,000 sqm. The total land area amounts to more than 81,000 sqm, and the investment sum is around 40 million euros. The commissioning of the logistics center is planned for the first quarter of 2025.
GRIESHABER Logistik GmbH, based in Weingarten, has had a successful partnership with CLAAS for over 10 years. The site in Ravensburg-Weissenau was established as a distribution warehouse in 2013 and has been continuously expanded since then. However, due to the ongoing growth of both companies, the site is reaching its capacity limit. To overcome storage bottlenecks, a new logistics center is now being built in Bad Saulgau, which not only expands storage capacity but also takes advantage of the proximity to CLAAS in Bad Saulgau to reduce costs and increase efficiency. The shorter transport route leads to significant CO2 savings, which can be further minimized through alternative drive forms such as hydrogen and electric.
GRIESHABER Logistik focuses on sustainability to reduce the CO2 footprint. This includes photovoltaic systems that generate green energy, covering not only the entire energy consumption of the logistics center but also allowing for surplus production. Another sustainable element is the planned truck charging station and the public truck parking area with sanitary facilities in Bad Saulgau. In the long term, GRIESHABER Logistik plans to use electric trucks for a CO2-neutral truck shuttle.
Gregor Schnell, Managing Director of GRIESHABER Logistik GmbH, emphasizes the importance of the partnership with CLAAS and highlights the good cooperation with the city. “The expansion of our long-standing partnership with CLAAS and the successful realization of this new logistics center is a significant milestone for GRIESHABER Logistik. We are proud to be part of this dynamic and growing community.”
The site manager of CLAAS Bad Saulgau, Ulrich Nickol, comments on the project as follows: “The logistics center is of great benefit to our company. It allows for the expansion of our existing production site by outsourcing additional processes. The spatial proximity leads to significant cost savings, and the improved efficiency will positively impact our operations. We look forward to this important step for CLAAS in Bad Saulgau with optimism.”
The mayor of Bad Saulgau, Raphael Osmakowski-Miller, expresses positive sentiments about the project: “The logistics center of GRIESHABER Logistik and CLAAS is an important project to strengthen the economy in Bad Saulgau. Securing CLAAS at the Bad Saulgau site is of great importance, and the creation of new jobs will further enhance the attractiveness of the location. This initiative underscores the sustainable development and progressive character of our city.”
30 Employees at the Start
In the first step, about 30 people will be employed. However, the logistics company plans to increase the number of employees to 50 in the future. The opening of the new logistics center not only strengthens the collaboration between GRIESHABER Logistik GmbH and CLAAS but also underscores the commitment of both companies to efficiency, sustainability, and forward-looking logistical solutions.
